When we get our new puppies or dogs we love them and want to give them the world! This is amazing but don’t get tricked into babying your new doggo. They are not babies they are animals. Many of the dogs we see with behavioural issues stem from being babied and this isn’t what is good for your dog.
If we enter into this realm as your dog grows up it will take the role of the leader of the pack (family) this then leads to reactivity, aggressive outbursts and issues further down the line.
To give your dog the best life we need to provide them with calm consistent leadership. Without this dogs will stray the path and this is where problems occur.

When your first purchase or rescue a dog it can be a super important time in yours and the dogs life. Matching your needs for a dog and what you look for in a dog is vital. We see many people that adopt or buy dogs that do not suit there life style, level of training or the amount of allocated time that can be given to the dog. We see many herding breeds, working breeds and retrieving breeds every week.

DOG PARKS
Some information about dogs parks and the rules surrounding them.
When at a off lead dog park the below rules MUST BE followed as it leads to issues happening in what should be a good outing.
Keep in mind these parks are not for every person or every dog.
DOG EXCERSIE AREAS.
Dogs are permitted to be left off leash when in approved exercise areas provided they:
-Are under effective control (this means the dog will come back when called at all times)
-Are accompanied by someone who is capable of controlling the dog.
-Do not chase or show signs of aggression towards people or other animals
-Are close to their owner so the leash can be quickly attached if need be.
Dogs ARE NOT to be left alone to run around and start trying to create fights and altercations with other dogs. YOU ARE NOT to let your dog run around at it’s merry way, it is to be within reach to put on a lead when the time occurs.
Dogs running up to even the most well behaved dogs will create a tense atmosphere and create the greater chance of a fight. 30-50 meters away from you with no reliable recall is completely wrong against council rules.
BE RESPONSIBLE. Do NOT blame others for your lack of guidance and leadership because you do not follow the below rules or the rules of your local dog park.

A PRONG COLLAR
Regardless of what you call it prong collar, pinch collar. These are one of the best tools used in modern “balanced” dog training when looking at the spectrum of Operant conditioning.
It is a tool we commonly use as an amazing source of communication between handler and animal. It gives results that would otherwise be unachievable.
The banning of collars in Western Australia has not been an issue as of yet. The import of the collars into Australia has been banned however manufacturing of them in Australia still occurs of which our collars come from.
While they can be misused by untrained people which can lead to further injury to the dog, a trained handler can use this to make changes that will greatly improve a dogs life.
The collars that we stock are an order only item that are coupled with a training sessions purely designed to teach handlers how to use them on their personal dog.
Before we use any tool you can be assured a large amount of research of hours and hours has been put into the use of every tool we use and if we wouldn’t use it on ourselves due to it causing harm we wouldn’t use it on a dog.

Night sessions are a great way to work on larger drills and commands all while keeping outside stimulation lower from things like cars, people and other dogs.

RECALL
Recall training is one of the most important things that can done with a dog regardless if you intend on walking off lead or not!

When feeding times come around you may want to try this.
We use this as a stimulation type of feeding. With biscuits measure about half your dogs normal input and yes just throw it on the floor or if u have left over egg cartons throw them into the egg carton.
This will help you puppy or dog to engage it’s sense of smell and actually search for the food.
This helps in situations where dogs can tend to be destructive when borred. However keep in mind you still need to make sure that you dog is getting the correct amount of food don’t just throw it onto the ground and think it’ll do.
We always watch our boys to ensure that they both get an even feed and then follow up with the remaining food. Don’t recommend the throw method everyday however the egg carton is a great way of keep dogs amused for a long time and not have to come back.

When our puppies start of there lives there cute and in our case for our cane corso he was squishy and was given this nickname.
It is super important at a young age to socialise and train a dog from the day you bring them home. These photos arnt even 2 years apart he went from a 10kg bunch of rolls to 50kgs in a year.
Puppy school, training, socialising and de-sensitising your pup or dog is so so important to give your best mate the best chance at a well behaved happy life.

DIET
We often get asked what we feed our boys to give them the best start to a day.
In our personal research we have found that vets tell you to avoid feeding raw all while selling there dry food bags. People that feed raw or recommend only ever feed raw as this is generally there income or like the vets, they have reasons to believe it’s better.
We can notice a difference in our dogs behaviour when they get fed on just biscuits or just raw. With our larger breeds feeding only raw can also be expensive when factoring in all costs. This is a reason we feed both it allows benefits of raw feeding as well as the bulk feeding or biscuits.
We take a page out of both books.
We feed our boys a mixed or dry food (biscuits), raw food with bone,fur,meat,organs,eggs,fish, cooked rice, uncooked oats, veggies,small amount of oil and on occasion some small amounts of lactose free milk.
If you are going to feed raw avoid buying Woolies or other supermarket type meat as it is expensive as are the biscuits. We recommend buying meat from stores that specifically make raw dog food and for biscuits buying bulk is always cheaper from pet stores and usually you’ll have a better range of good food.
Saturday mornings are a great time for you to get your dog out take them for a walk and learn some new skills.
If your dogs good on a short lead get ahold of these or make your own! start working on some basic recall commands all while starting weekend off with a beautiful walk!
