🚨🚨 GREAT NEWS!!!! Thank you so much for all the interest in fostering/adopting Odin. We now have a carer sorted! 🙌🏻🎉

However we are working our way through the rest of the applications as we have one other dog who does not have a foster home sorted yet.

ODIN is about to be HOMELESS!

No one has stepped up to foster him 😭😭
. and his temporary foster carers, who busted him out of the pound late last week, are not available from the end of this week so cannot continue to care for this lovely boy.

Sure he’s a big boofy boy, and lacks manners on lead (pulls which our trainer can assist with).
But just look at him adoring being in a home with humans after 19 days in the pound. ❤️

Sadly, if we cannot find a carer for him by this Fri/Sat he will need to go into kennels until we can. ☹️

That is no place for this boy! It’s too cold ❄️

If you can open your home and heart to this love bug this Fri/Sat we’d love to hear from you asap! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Foster or foster-view-adopt will be considered.

No pets. Kids mid-primary school aged up.

This is Squizzle 🐾💙

He is a 1 year old Frenchie mix, who can’t wait to come home with you!

Not only is he the cutest little squish, Squizzle has lovely manners, he sits patiently for treats but he does have the very best puppy dog eyes so you’ll have to be careful not to fall for that look too often! 😂

Squizzle doesn’t mind other doggies, he’s made some walking friends here at the refuge and has been very polite, but is more interested in exploring and putting his nose to good work.

Squizzle came to us from a local pound, whilst we don’t have a lot of previous history on him, our trainers believe with his friendly and confident demeanour he could share his new home with kids 8+ 😊

He loves human attention and will be a super loyal and loving companion to a very lucky family! 💙

This poor Apostle bird baby came into care and needed an X-ray. Sadly the image shows a severely deformed leg and brittle bones. The worst part of this is us humans are the likely cause.

He had metabolic bone disease. Metabolic bone disease in birds results in painful degenerative changes in the bones that result from nutritional imbalance and deficiencies. Imbalances of calcium, phosphorus, and Vitamin D3 can lead to soft or brittle beaks, claws and keel, bone fractures and enlarged parathyroid glands.

If you talk to bird carers, and avian vets they will tell you that this is one of the biggest causes of euthanasia of insectivorous baby birds that come into care.

What makes this so heartbreaking is that in many instances the reason for MBD is entirely preventable because it is due to humans feeding these birds or the birds parents when the bird is still in nest. If you are feeding mince, bread, seed, sausage, chicken or pet food to wild birds you may well be part of the problem.

Human food is not natural for any meat eating and can make them sick. A natural diet for these birds consists of insects and small animals.

We often hear I love my local magpies and feed them regularly. If you truly care then don’t feed them regularly and don’t feed them human foods.

**** If you really want to help then a compost heap or worm farm can augment the natural food supply during these dry times and still bring these magnificent birds as visitors to your yard******

Maya (Pronounced Myer) is a 5-year-old American Bulldog who just wants a loving home!

She has been moved from home to home several times through her short life. This has nothing to do with her temperament or nature as she is an extremely friendly, loving, gentle and calm dog.

Maya craves love and attention, she loves nothing more than getting pats, hugs and laying in the sun. Don’t be scared of her noises! She is very vocal when she plays, but doesn’t bark unnecessarily.

She previously was friendly with a house cat, has been around small children and is very gentle and calm.

She loves a car ride, especially when she is being taken to the river or open park areas. She has enjoyed many off and on lead bush walks and splashing in the river. But what she seems to love most is being towel dried after a bath! Even though she enjoys being out, she can be a bit lazy and loves her bed and cuddling her soft toys.

She is relatively new to structured training, but is quick to learn. She has experience walking on the lead, although she gets excited and pulls at first, she settles quickly.

She would suit being in a home with another dog or by herself with a loving human.
