Did you know that our feline friends can get sunburned too? Cats with white or light-colored fur, thin hair, or pink noses are especially at risk. Cats with conditions like hair loss (alopecia) or those who have had skin issues before may also be more vulnerable to the sun's harmful UV rays.
Sunburn in cats isn’t just painful – it can also lead to more serious issues like skin damage or even cancer over time.
To keep your kitty safe this summer:
🌤️ Provide plenty of shaded areas for lounging.
🪟 Use UV-blocking window films if your cat loves sunbathing indoors.
☀️ Avoid letting your cat outside during peak sun hours (10am–4pm).
🧴 Consider using a pet-safe sunscreen on exposed areas if outdoor time is unavoidable.
Signs to watch for include redness, flaky skin, or discomfort on your cat’s ears, nose, or other exposed areas. If you notice anything unusual, consult your vet right away.
