And that is a wrap for our first puppy school of 2024. This class saw Kevin the Red Heeler, Prince the Dachshund, Leo the Groodle, Bandit the Cavalier and Brando the Pug mix all graduate.

These puppies, along with their humans spent 5 weeks socialising and learning valuable life skills such as sit, stay, recall, leave it, lie down, leash walking and go to bed.

They were so excited they could hardly sit still for their photos.

Their humans also learnt about animal training principles, understanding their dog, nutrition, parasitology and recognising veterinary emergencies.

Puppy school is a fantastic way for puppy's and their humans to get off on the right foot together for a long and enjoyable life together.

Our next class block starts on Tuesday the 6th of January and currently has a few spaces still available. Call 9455 1310 today if you'd like to book your puppy into a future class and give them a great start to life at home with you.

Meet the team Tuesday.

Meet Nurse Jonathan and his dog Jasper.

Jon's love of, and fascination with, animals developed at a very tender age, watching and assisting his Grandad with their enormous number of pets and rescued animals. This progressed into working at kennels and doing dog walking as a teenager, and from there he was hooked!
Before becoming a nurse, Jon was a qualified pet groomer with 10 yrs of experience, even having run his own Doggie daycare and grooming service for a few years before joining the Veterinary industry full time back in 2016. Jon thrives on all aspects of nursing, especially patient care, surgical nursing, hospital patient management and training junior nurses, and we are so excited to have him on board to care for your beloved pets.

Outside of work, you will find him caring for his menagerie of pets, hiking, at the beach or curled up with a book and at least one furry companion, probably several!

From the first of February Paws and More Vet Centre will have new opening hours as follows:

MONDAY: 8:30AM – 6:00PM

TUESDAY: 8:30AM – 6:00PM

WEDNESDAY: 8:30AM – 6:00PM

THURSDAY: 8:30AM – 6:00PM

FRIDAY: 8:30AM – 6:00PM

SATURDAY: CLOSED

SUNDAY: CLOSED

Unfortunately as we, along with many other veterinary centres, continue to deal with staff shortages we have made the decision to close on weekends for the near future.

While this decision will allow Paws and More Vet centre to better cater to our patients and clients by being able to offer more consultation and surgical openings through the week; we do apologise for any inconvenience. The last Saturday available for consultations will be Saturday the 27th of January.

Today we had the very handsome Parker in for a check up. A cross between a Labrador and an Australian Shepard, our vets always love seeing Parker and his lovely fluffy coat.

And that is a wrap for puppy school for 2023. While not everyone could make it for graduation this week due to Christmas plans. This class saw Maple the Cavoodle and Collie the Border Collie, (as well as Reba the Kelpie and twin Xoloitzcuintli's Cricket and Raven, who unfortunately couldn't make graduation night) along with their humans spent 5 weeks socialising and learning valuable life skills such as sit, stay, recall, lie down, leash walking and go to bed.

They were so excited they could hardly sit still for their photos.

Their humans also learnt about animal training principles, understanding their dog, nutrition, parasitology and recognising veterinary emergencies.

Puppy school is a fantastic way for puppy's and their humans to get off on the right foot together for a long and enjoyable life together.

Our next class block starts on Tuesday the 2nd of January and currently has a few spaces still available. Call 9455 1310 today if you'd like to book your puppy into a future class (especially if you're adding a new family member at Christmas) and give them a great start to life at home with you.

Recently we had yet another puppy school class of 2023 graduate. Rocko the shy English Staffy, Mandy the Labrador, Pluto the Cavoodle and Miles the Shih Tzu (along with their humans) spent 5 weeks socialising and learning valuable life skills such as sit, stay, recall, lie down, leash walking and go to bed.

They were so excited they could hardly sit still for their photos.

Their humans also learnt about animal training principles, understanding their dog, nutrition, parasitology and recognising veterinary emergencies.

Puppy school is a fantastic way for puppy's and their humans to get off on the right foot together for a long and enjoyable life together.

Last night we had another puppy school class of 2023 graduate. Indee the English Staffy, Teddy the American Staffy, Benji the Jack Russell, (as well as Lucky the Cavalier and another English Staffy called Indi who unfortunately couldn't make graduation night) along with their humans spent 5 weeks socialising and learning valuable life skills such as sit, stay, recall, lie down, leash walking and go to bed.

They were so excited they could hardly sit still for their photos.

Their humans also learnt about animal training principles, understanding their dog, nutrition, parasitology and recognising veterinary emergencies.

Lex the cat loves his afternoon walks in the backyard, but when he didn’t come inside for dinner one evening his owners knew something was wrong and went looking.

Finding him lying beside the shed they noticed some blood on one of his hind legs and bought him to the clinic where Dr Jolyn and nurse Ashleigh examined Lex, provided pain relief and x-rayed Lex’s hind legs. The X-rays confirmed that Lex had suffered a badly broken leg which would require surgery.

Lex was stabilised and bought back to Paws and More where Doctors Jolyn and Kacey amputated the broken leg while Nurse Shawn took care of his anaesthesia. The surgery was a great success helping give Lex a pain free future as cats adapt quite well to life on three legs. Lex’s owners have reported that with the broken leg removed Lex has bounced back and is living his best life once again, albeit with playtime now being indoors, and has thanked all the wonderful doctors and nurses for their loving care of their little man.

How cute is our new friend, West the Greyhound.

West is such a gentleman, and we feel so lucky to have met him and to have spent the day with him when he visited us for his teeth cleaning procedure.
West now has perfect teeth to match his perfect face.

Dental month is well and truly underway. We offer free dental checks and have huge savings on dental scale and polish procedures for the month of August.

West had a scale and polish done on his teeth to remove tartar build-up and prevent decay, keeping his mouth healthy.
