Help Us Reach Our $40,000 EOFY Goal to Save These Kittens
This End of Financial Year, we’re asking for your help to give more vulnerable kittens the second chance they deserve.
The soft drink litter came to Cat haven at 8 weeks old on the brink of death. After 5 days in hospital they were strong enough to come out to foster where they met their foster parents. Sprite, Fanta, Pepsi and Coke, were still incredibly sick and not out of the woods yet. When they got home, the foster parents decided that if they were going to have the best chance at survival, they would need human names for extra human strength so their other names are Georgie, Sabrina, Eddie and Margret. It was after a week that Sprite started to show some neurological signs and went back into hospital for two weeks, after a week, her twin Fanta joined her who was also incredibly unwell still. After lots of help from the vet team at Cat Haven Sprite and Fanta defied all odds and many tearful conversations later, they finally came home to their siblings Pepsi and Coke.
All four kittens were suffering from a severe strain of the herpes virus when they arrive, so aggressive that it caused irreversible damage to their tiny eyes. Despite every effort, the virus has left them in this shape. For Sprite and Coke, it meant losing their eyes entirely. Fanta and Pepsi, it meant a lifetime of disability, navigating a world they can’t fully see and getting a recheck in a couple of months to see if they will need their eyes removed too.
They’ve endured more in their short lives than any kitten ever should, multiple vet visits, specialist appointments, and round after round of medications. Through it all, they never gave up. Their little bodies may be fragile, but their spirits remain unbreakable.
✨ Sprite - Sprite is a one eyed, tiny but mighty, champagne kitten. She doesn’t walk places, she struts. For one little kitten she has the most love in the world to share.
✨ Fanta - Fanta is a reserved yet playful kitten. She loves a snuggle and to follow her foster parents around the house.
✨ Coke - Coke is the goofiest little tabby boy, who purrs any chance he gets and loves to make biscuits on his favourite blanket.
✨ Pepsi - Pepsi is a gorgeous calico, who unfortunately has sustained some damage to her eyes. That doesn’t stop her though, her favour activities include climbing and playing with the shower curtain.
These kittens represent so many others who come through our doors needing urgent, intensive care, and we can’t do it without you. So a huge THANK YOU to everyone who donates to their care. They have cost us thousands in treatment but it is so worth it to see them living happy pain free lives.
