Intakes just keep coming !!!

So today, we welcome a very special little pup called Wonton.

He was surrendered to the vet at 2 weeks old as he was struggling to feed. So little Wonton is currently in care with one of our neonate carers and doing really well so far.

🎉🎉🎉Celebrating Tux🎉🎉🎉
After my own dogs passed away I felt I would never have that connection or feel that love again. But loving dogs as I do, I wanted to open my doors and help wherever I could.
“ we have an old boy in kennels, he isn’t coping and not doing well, would I take him until we find a suitable forever foster home.” They said.

I arrived to meet Tux, a 10.5 yr old border collie cross. Tux has some behaviour issues. HAART gave me all the information they had on his issues, one being very selective about who he likes in his company, and what was needed for him. If I took him on it would be up to me to keep him safe and made to feel secure.
I expected a depressed and sad dog to walk through the doors the day I met him. What I got was a dog full of life, happiness and joy. He jumped up on me licking me and wagging his tail like mad. I guess he decided I was OK J
Within 2 weeks I told HAART, he isn’t going anywhere and I would happily be his forever foster. I never expected to be filled with so much love and joy again. He makes my heart sing every day, his enthusiasm at seeing me come home every day, is only out matched by his enthusiasm for food

So here I am 3 yrs. later with a senior dog full of life, love and happiness. Sure, I won’t have as long with him as a younger dog. However, I get all the benefits from a senior, no crazy puppy behaviour, chewing everything, all the training they need and more. I get a doggo who loves a walk albeit a short one, who is just as happy to have cuddles on the couch.

Some have been neglected or abandoned by those who claim to love them, some are grieving the loss of their older owner passing away.

All they ask is to be loved, cared for, given peace and security as they grow old. In return we get filled with love and joy, and the knowledge that we made a difference to their life, however long or short it is.
TUX maybe a rescue but in truth, he rescued me.

Our little stumpy legged mate Mow is begging please foster me.

He has now been in kennels 6 months and needs a place to crash with larger dogs, no children and we've since tested him with cats and he proved it could be a yes with cats pending a slow intro....

Akira was handed to a vet in a very poor condition.

After some TLC and good food she is feeling much better and is on the lookout for her forever home.
Akira is a very affectionate girl with her people and loves a good nose rub, but she would like to be the only feline in the home and tends to be a little bit of a bully with the other cats.
She doesn’t mind the dog in her foster home however so with careful introductions she could warm up to a canine companion

Please give Secret a big warm welcome. She was one of the pound dogs we were able to save this week.

Only a baby at approx. 6 months old she found herself in the pound on death row.

Little Secret is safe because her foster carer put her hand up to save her life.

Secret will be available for adoption once she has had the all clear from the vet.

😍😀😍Pawsome Feel-Good Friday Update😍😀😍

Today we celebrate Odie’s 11th birthday. We have had him for nearly 10 of those years. He was born to a 6 month old who had been rescued by HAART. We adopted him when he was 15 months old and have never looked back. Over the last 10 years he has welcomed 3 new feline additions to our family and 2 kelpie dogs and has taken them all under his wing. He keeps his sibling pets in order and is very much the calm boss! He is the most special cat imaginable and we are grateful everyday that he chose us for his forever home 💕

This month we are going to hear from some of those who have fostered some of our Seniors and how they have changed each other's lives for the better.

Pet Fresh Maddington will be hosting H.A.A.R.T (Homeless and Abused Animal Rescue Team) on Saturday November 23rd from 9am until 2pm.
The team will be in store with some adorable kittens, puppies and dogs who are looking for their new forever homes!

Tonight we are asking for your help!!!

The options for Noah were either we take him in or he goes for the big sleep.
So of course we stepped up to help.

Noah presented as a stray with a fractured right hind leg. He is just a young boy with his whole life ahead of him. He's the purrrfect patient and such a smooch. As such we want to make that life the best one possible,

It is cheaper to amputate the leg but a pin and plate at a specialist centre is, we believe, a better option for him. This comes in at a little over $5k.

Noah deserves a shot at having the best life a kitty could ask for. No more wandering the streets and no more pain from this broken leg.

We have him tentatively scheduled for surgery on Monday, pending funds in the bank.

As the weather warms up we welcome our scaly friends out of hibernation.
When Ninja's amazing foster carer moved where he was going to coexist with them she asked if Ninja could learn to live safely with them. So she called in Phil from Reptile Rescues & Education. We are pleased to say he passed with flying colours.
