An update from Artie's foster mum
I have fostered Artie for about 2 years now and can tell you with my full heart that he is just the most gorgeous boy around. Like a lot of staffys, he is an anxious boy. Like a lot of staffys, he is dog reactive. And like a lot of staffys, he will love and adore you unconditionally, present his waggy tail and bum for pats, take up the whole bed, insist on eating the bum ends of a carrot and vow to protect you his whole life.
Artie has moved with me to 3 houses in a year (A LOT for an anxious dog) and every time has demonstrated bravery and adaptation. He has been a key member of every house we’ve lived in. We currently live with 2 other young women and it is so reassuring that Artie’s bark warns off any baddies! He cracks everyone up whether it’s opening Christmas presents, sitting ON TOP of people on the couch or getting zoomies in the backyard. It’s no wonder why I have almost 1,000 pictures and videos of this stud!
What has been most rewarding about fostering Artie has been working with our trainer, Trevor (Top Dogz), on training Artie’s stress thresholds. Trevor saw from the get go that
Artie was very food oriented lol
He is very smart and works very hard (you can see it in his delightful forehead wrinkles)
We have been working with Trevor on and off for about a year and it is so fulfilling to see Artie’s progress and understand that, like people, dogs have boundaries too and it is healthy! Artie is crate-trained and is more comfortable in there when new people are around. He is quiet and keeps to himself. I started seeing my partner, Alicia, eight months ago and when I decided to introduce Artie to her; she was slow and patient. Within days; he was cuddling her on my bed and still does to this day.
Artie is an incredibly affectionate, loving and beautiful dog. He is truly the light of my life and my house. I feel so lucky to have him in my life and he would make a perfect addition to any family who give him the tim
