This is not a name and shame post...

Just a shame post! I'm not feeling mean enough to name!

But one of u lot is officially banned from the clippers!!!
However, this is not a first offence! So I'm going to have to attempt to give some sort of clipping lesson to this one in the hope that they pay attention to advice in future, because they clearly cannot be trusted not to do it again!

😵‍💫 bad bad girl!!! Stay away from the clippers!

I would like to give a warmest of welcomes to Aerin Hoyne her beautiful pony Alice as they have accepted my offer to become my first sponsored rider for Sheridan’s Clipping and Show Prep.

I met Aerin about 2 years ago when she hired me to plait her first pony Elliot at the Pony Club State Dressage Champs. This was her first big show in Perth and there were so many questions, emotion, excitement and I felt great that I could support Aerin and Elliot at such a big moment, like attending a State Championship Show. This year Aerin attended the Dressage Champs again and she brought home many ribbons with Alice. Aerin also impressed me this year with her conduct as a team player, looking out for other riders, putting the needs of her pony first, and really listening and questioning so she can absorb as much knowledge as she can to improve her riding and horsemanship skills.

I see a lot of myself in Aerin and I’m honoured to support her in her equestrian pursuit. Watch this space! And give a follow ❤️

This is fundamental advice regardless of the discipline in which you ride, I have built my method and career around all of this, if you
Study the greatest horsemen in the world you will see all of the points in action. This was said by one of the best modern horsemen bill steinkrause.

“No. 1. Get your tack and equipment just right, and then forget about it and concentrate on the horse.

No. 2. The horse is bigger than you are, and it should carry you. The quieter you sit, the easier this will be for the horse.

No. 3. The horse's engine is in the rear. Thus, you must ride your horse from behind, and not focus on the forehand simply because you can see it.

No. 4. It takes two to pull. Don't pull. Push.

No. 5. For your horse to be keen but submissive, it must be calm, straight and forward.

No. 6. When the horse isn`t straight, the hollow side is the difficult side.

No. 7. The inside rein controls the bending, the outside rein controls the speed.

No. 8. Never rest your hands on the horse's mouth. You make a contract with it: "You carry your head and I'll carry my hands."

No. 10. Once you've used an aid, put it back.

No. 11. You can exaggerate every virtue into a defect.

No. 12. Always carry a stick, then you will seldom need it.

No. 13. If you`ve given something a fair trial, and it still doesn't work, try something else—even the opposite.

No. 14. Know when to start and when to stop. Know when to resist and when to reward.

No. 15. If you're going to have a fight, you pick the time and place.

No. 16. What you can't accomplish in an hour should usually be put off until tomorrow.

No. 17. You can think your way out of many problems faster than you can ride your way out of them.

No. 18. When the horse jumps, you go with it, not the other way around.

No. 19. Don`t let over-jumping or dull routine erode the horse's desire to jump cleanly. It's hard to jump clear rounds if the horse isn't trying.

No. 20. Never give up until the rail hits the ground.

No. 21. Young horses are like children—give them a lot of love, but don't let them get away with anything.

No. 22. In practice, do things as perfectly as you can; in competition, do what you have to do.

No. 23. Never fight the oats.

No. 24. The harder you work, the luckier you get."

My Story

Hi people of the internet, especially to my horsey folk.

My name is Sheridan and I have been clipping horses for around 7 years, and showing them much longer than that. I, most like you, have a passion and for me and my passion I have turned mine into a business. I am currently at Murdoch university studying Animal Science working on progressing my career in the vastly growing Agricultural Sector. I grew up in a small town in the South of Western Australia and this is were my love for horses was established as a child. Owning a horse teaches you so much, hard work, commitment, responsibility, compassion, picking your self up when things don't work, trying again and again no matter what or how many bruises you acquire. When I started showing horses I had no idea, my plaits looked like they had been through the washing machine, and my clipping you can say I had miss a few weeks before mum let me take my pony out in public. We all started somewhere and I am so passionate about helping people learn what I have learnt and look there absolute best, when showing for there first time or wanting extra special job for that much anticipated event of the year! Sometimes one less thing to stress about on your big day is all you need, I am here and happy to help.

Happy Horseing Sheridan :)
