NATIONAL CHAMPION ALERT!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS to Jess O'Brien and Flora (aka onion flower 🤪) taking out Masters Jumping 300 National Champions!!!!!! You have incredible skills and take everything with a grain of salt Jess. We’re all in awe and we’re cheering you on this afternoon! Epic run!!
Sophie Oconnell and Coco absolutely smashed the 300 ADX field with 3 first places and got into both ADX and JDM finals but had a couple of faults but a super speedy Coco and super smooth handling! We’re all so proud of you Sophie!
Last but not least our gorgeous Mandy Van Ross who had some scorching runs that look effortlessly smooth but unfortunately fault or off course jump kept them from any clears this time. Mandy you handle like a pro and the 500’s waiting to run after you would have been on the edge of their seats. — with Mandy Van Ross and 2 others.
Congrats to the WA Agility Junior Team for coming 3rd at the 2024 Agility Nationals
Sophie and Coco train Agility with us on Wednesday nights and always work hard great to see all that work paying off.
Big thankyou to our instructors, assistants and van staff who volunteer their time in all weather to train our dogs.
Yes we are training today but it is very wet and rainy so we don't blame you if you want to stay home and dry.
Note for all class 3+ members. There is an achievement trial coming up on 21st July so, for the next 2 Sundays (7th & 14th), we will be doing some ring work and going through all the judge's commands, when they are said, and what they mean.
See you tomorrow
Irene

Enrichment day 2 - fun ways to keep cool as the weather warms up! Bowie would like to remind everyone that as the weather starts to warm up it incredibly important to consider ways to keep our dog's cool. A great option is doing a treat scatter in a clam pool or other shallow body of water, encouraging our dogs to sniff around and explore. You can up the game by also having toys floating in the pool. Be sure to choose an appropriate depth depending on the size of your dog.
Enrichment Day 1 - Licky Mats! Arlo sure agrees that lick mats are a great way for dogs to chill out and have some nice down time. Licking releases 'feel good' chemicals in a dogs brain and is a great activity for all breeds and ages. There are so many things you can try on your dogs lick mat including peanut butter, wet dog food, yogurt, pureed veggies, or tuna. Licky mats come in all shapes and sizes and can now be purchased in most pet stores, as well as online. Hot tip - if you're using peanut butter 11/10 would recommend labelling which one is for people and which one is for the dogs! No one wants to be double dipping dog slobber into the jar (been there done that...) We'd love to see other dogs showing off how much they love their lick mats too!
Have you ever wondered whats the safest way to hold your lead? Well we have an answer - The Trapeze Grip! By simply sliding your hand through the loop on your lead and gripping at the joining point it creates a comfortable, strong hold that is safe for both you and your dog. No more wrapping leads around your hands or having it loosely hanging where there is a risk of accidentally dropping it. Check out a quick demo video on how it works.
Training goals! Training with our dogs should always be fun for all involved, especially the dogs. Arlo (class 3), Bowie (class 2B) and Nino (class 1D) love showing off what they have learnt in class and spend a little bit of time training every time they are out and about. Training isn’t something that should just happen on Sunday mornings so make sure you load your treat pouch whenever taking your dog out for a walk and have some fun!
