🧠💪 Confidence After a Fall — Let’s Talk About It

Losing confidence after a fall or a scare is completely normal — and far more common than riders admit.

✨ Repetition rewires the brain
After a fall, your brain creates a “negative memory loop” to keep you safe. The good news? Positive repetitions slowly replace that fear.
Research shows it takes 30–60 calm, successful repetitions for a new memory to override the old one. That means small, steady wins add up massively — even if it feels slow at first.

Every quiet walk.
Every smooth transition.
Every ride where nothing “goes wrong.”
All of those count toward building the new story your body believes.

So be patient with yourself. Be open with your instructor. And remember — confidence isn’t about never feeling scared. It’s about showing up anyway, even if you take it one gentle step at a time. 🐴💛

Our team is gearing up for a big weekend as we head down to Yalambi Farm Stud in Margaret River to compete!

🚗 It’s a bit of a drive, but absolutely worth it — Yalambi is one of WA’s premier showjumping venues, with incredible indoor and outdoor arenas and some of the best atmosphere you’ll find in the sport.

Representing us this weekend:
• Nora & Angel (KP Extreme)
• Dani & Chester (KP Legacy)
• Clara with Ted and Azzi

We’re excited for a great weekend of jumping at such a stunning venue.
Spectators are welcome, so if you’re keen for a day out in the region, come along and cheer the team on! 🌟🏇

✨ Top Tip Tuesday: Why Your Thumbs Go on Top!

(And what it has to do with your arms)

When we say “thumbs on top”, it’s not just about looking tidy — it completely changes how your arms, elbows, and shoulders function and how clearly your horse can understand you.

🐴 Here’s why thumbs belong on top:

✔️ 1. It aligns your arm for elastic contact

Turning your hands flat (like carrying a tray) locks your forearm and tightens your elbows.
Putting your thumbs on top keeps your forearm in a neutral, relaxed position so your elbows can bend and follow the horse’s movement.

✔️ 2. It prevents “motorbike handlebars”

Flat hands naturally make your elbows drift out.
Thumbs on top bring your elbows softly to your sides, giving you a straight line from elbow to bit — the foundation of good rein aids.

✔️ 3. It allows teeny-tiny, soft instructions

With the arm aligned and elastic, your hand can give gentle, precise rein aids.
Flat hands = stiff arm = accidental pulling.
Thumbs on top = quiet, kind communication.

✔️ 4. It stabilises the rein

Your thumb becomes the highest point, like a small “clamp,” keeping the rein from slipping through fingers when the horse stretches.

✔️ 5. It protects the horse’s mouth

Good arm alignment absorbs movement through the elbow, not through jabs at the rein.
Thumbs on top keeps the whole arm soft so the horse gets consistent, comfortable contact.

☀️ Summer Horse Happiness – Part 2 ☀️

Whenever you can, please saddle up your own horse before your lesson. Arrive 15 minutes early to give them a quick groom and pop on your saddle.

We’ll still take care of the bridles — so no stress there!

✨ Already know how? Fantastic!
✨ Need a refresher? No problem — just let your instructor know.
✨ Never done it before? Wonderful! We’d love to teach you how to do it properly.

By helping with this, you’re also helping your horse — it means less time standing around in the heat with their tack on, keeping them cooler, more comfortable, and happier to work when it’s time to ride.

Every little bit helps keep our horses comfortable and our lessons running smoothly this summer ☀️

Summer Horse Welfare Reminder ☀️🐴

As we head into the warmer months, we need to be extra mindful of our horses’ welfare. In the heat, it’s not ideal for them to be left standing in their yards for long periods while saddled up.

You can really help us by letting us know if you’re not able to make your lesson or ride. The easiest way is to send us a DM (facebook or instagram both work well) — we’ll make sure it gets to the right people.

💬 24 hours’ notice is ideal, but even a couple of hours’ notice can make a big difference. It can save us from bringing a horse in from their shaded paddock only for them to be standing tacked up, getting warm, waiting for a rider who won’t be arriving.

Thank you for helping us keep our horses comfortable and happy this summer! 🌿
