It has been a quiet week on the CCVS scene as I was ill. So I thank all my clients who were able to assist in their flexibility with rescheduling!

There are appointments available most days except when grooming is occurring (we all know the pooches need to be trimmed, de-burred and pampered throughout summer to keep them comfortable).

January Update:
With the big move (sorry Port Macquarie/Wauchope and surrounds, it was sad to leave) and still settling in to Parkes there will be opportunity to see pets at Petstock a few days a week. Keep an eye out for dates as posted here in a few days time.

Keep an eye out for an opening date for Parkes Veterinary Hospital. It won't be too far away now!

There is a large parvovirus outbreak occurring throughout many NSW towns at present. Parvovirus can cause your pet to become very sick and a real risk of death despite receiving supportive treatment which can be quite expensive. For the sake of a vaccination, please reach out to offer protection to your pet. Book online for Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December Parkes visit dates for vet care. Due to the rise in cases of parvovirus across Australia, the AVA is reminding owners to make sure their dogs are up-to-date with their vaccinations to protect them from the highly contagious and potentially fatal disease.

All puppies from six weeks of age should be vaccinated against parvovirus and other canine diseases. Follow-up vaccinations are also required, and your local veterinarians can advise on the best type of protection for your area.

If you are unsure of your pet’s vaccination status you should contact your veterinarian for advice.

A sad update indeed and many clients received an email late last week notifying of close of business for CCVS (computer error prevented emails being sent earlier, sincere apologies for this oversight).
It is with deep regret to have to inform everyone that CCVS will cease to operate on Wed 13th Nov.

For Parkes people, this will mean we will be permanently in Parkes and operating under PARKES VETERINARY HOSPITAL in the near future.

Unfortunately for the Hastings-Port Macquarie region, I am no longer able to continue to service the region but have greatly appreciated the support you have given over this short period. If you would like the history of your pet to be emailed to a vet of your choosing, please email [email protected] and it will be forwarded on. For livestock owners, or clients with pets with ongoing medication requirements, please make contact via email or text (0474277500) to refill medications.
All reminders for vaccinations will continue to take place but a change of business name will be attached to the reminder as we transition to our new business over the coming months.

The phone will remain active with a message system in place for contact details of many vets in the region to help you with the ongoing care and treatment of your pets and livestock.
Thank you again for all of your support. It has been great getting to know you all.

Meet Pandora... who got into a bit of a tiff and came off second best. She had lacerations to her upper lip with some partial thickness wounds to her lower lip aswell.
After some sedation, local anaesthetic and trimming back the wounds to so they can be sutured she was far more comfortable and bounced back to her normal self in no time.
As the alpacas at this home are loved so much, even the old girl 'Angel' with some arthritis issues and the newborn cria (baby alpaca) got little coats to keep them warm during the cold nights and mornings.
Did you know that when an alpaca gives birth, it is called 'unpacking'!

Some days the drives takes me to hidden areas, miniature donkeys and trying to beat the alpacas to the front gate!!
Routine visits for vaccinations, drenching and herd health checks are important for the health and wellbeing of livestock. Most things can be performed by owners but there is occasionally times where vets are needed. These guys were all given clean bills of health!

Patient of the month of May! Yes, very late update but still worth showing this little cutie anyway. This little man came off second best presumably with barbed wire fencing which had punctured and ruptured his eye.
Unfortunately there is no other treatment apart from removal of the eye which was performed under heavy sedation and local anaesthesia. He was such a brave and well mannered boy and reports were he didn't miss a beat after his surgery.
