NSW - CHANGES TO THE ONLINE PETREGISTRY DATABASE

For anyone residing in NSW, this news article outlines changes to how your pet's details will be handled in the new NSW Pet Registry. There still seem to be many issues with the new online system, but you can still contact your local council if you need help.

****Make sure you don’t HAVE to get your next puppy from a puppy mill! ****

Once again there is a push from Animal Rights (NOT Animal Welfare) organisations to introduce further legislation in NSW. This new push is billed as being “anti puppy mill” but if enacted would effectively see the end of ANY breeding of dogs or cats other than large scale operations - effectively producing the very thing they say they are wanting to stop from happening.

PLEASE READ BELOW and contact your local NSW representative to express how wrong this legislation is and how it will in fact cause the very issue they are wanting to get rid of.

For those who don’t want to read through all of this proposal - here are some of the highlights.

All breeders or owners of more than 2 entire females will be considered a “breeding business” (even if you never intend to have a litter!)

All breeding businesses will need to apply for council approval to operate a business from your premises / home.

The full Animal Welfare COP for breeding dogs will be applicable which means that 3 entire girls you need the same set up as a full boarding establishment with dog runs etc. no longer being able to have your dogs as inside pets.

There will be an annual permit needed from council and will involve an annual inspection (by council or other organisation such as the RSPCA) to make sure you comply with all those regulations.

Your breeding permit can be cancelled (or not approved) if the council thinks
* you are not financially able to comply with these new arrangements
OR if you have ever declared bankrupt!
OR you don’t have sufficient qualifications or experience to be a breeder
OR you are not a fit and proper person to conduct a business
(No definitions on what any of those things mean)
Plus some other things that make more sense like having been convicted of animal cruelty etc.

EVERYONE who has a litter or sells or gives away a dog or cat (regardless of age) needs to register and have a “source number”assigned to them and if I am reading this correctly that application can be refused if they feel you don’t have sufficient qualifications for caring for companion animals!!! I can only assume if that happens the animal(s) would be seized.

No person can have more than 10 entire females. (Although I think this reads that a “business entity” can)

This one will be the final straw for anyone other than a large scale breeding business…….
AT ALL TIMES THERE MUST BE AT LEAST 1 PERSON IN ATTENDANCE FOR EVERY 10 ANIMALS (this includes all dogs (girls and boys) and ALL PUPPIES REGARDLESS OF AGE.
For larger breeds that can have 10 or more puppies in a litter, this could mean having to have someone at home AT ALL TIMES while you have puppies.

All of these regulations come with hefty fines plus up to 2 years in prison!!! Just for not having a permit!!!!

UPDATE: Pretzel has a new home and is settling in well.

Noice, different, unusual - Pretzel is a chocolate sable boy with such an unusual coloured coat!!! He is now 9 weeks old and available now. He is such a sweet boy and will make a lovely companion.

Little Miss will be heading off to Melbourne shortly to join her new family.

Beanie’s baby girl (Little Miss) is available. She is chocolate and white, born 14/07/2023 so 4.5 months old now. Her name says it all and Little Miss is very dedicated and involved with being a puppy. She plays constantly with the other puppies here and I think would suit a home with another playful dog.

Little Miss is available for $2000.

** Converse and Vans have found their new homes **

If you are looking for a puppy that’s a little different, Converse or Vans may be the right little boy for you. They were born on the 5th Aug and are now 3.5 months old.
Converse is black and white and Vans is brown and white. Both boys were born with 1 brown and 1 blue eye making them look just that little bit extra special 🙂
Converse is an old soul and already happy doing his own thing and is quite a chilled character. He would suit a home with another dog to help bring him out of his shell.
Vans is a smooch and happy to join in with whatever is happening. He loves to follow you around and poke his head in to “help”.
The boys are $2000 each and are ready to go to their new homes now.
Transport can be arranged if required.

*Great news - Reebok has found a lovely new home. If you are still interested in a puppy I’ll be posting some more info later today.

Are you looking for a snuggle buddy? Then Reebok is the boy for you. He is a chocolate (reddish brown) particolour, meaning he has patches of brown colour on a white background.

Reebok is a really sweet boy and loves attention and cuddles. He may be a smaller dog fully grown (4 to 5kg), and he was born 5th Aug making him 3.5 months old.

CONVERSE - black particolour boy
VANS - choc particolour boy

Both Converse and Vans are a little unusual as they were born with one blue and one brown eye. This is called heterochromia and is common in some breeds like Huskies or Australian Shepherds. Not so common for a Havanese, but does occur occasionally. The condition doesn’t affect their sight, just gives them quite an unusual look :)

UPDATE: Cracker has found a wonderful new home.

Ok I’ve decided Cracker (Havabella Xmas Cracker) would like to find a new home.

Cracker is a small boy but quite sure of his own importance 🙂. He is chocolate and white (particoloured) and was born on Boxing Day 2021 making him 21 months old at the moment.

Zander and his brothers (I’ll post details separately) are looking for suitable homes. They unfortunately missed out on a lot of their early socialisation and training due to my personal circumstances at the time.

Zander is a very shy boy who is much more at ease playing with his siblings and my other dogs. He will need a lot of time and compassionate training to bring him out of his shell.

He would suit a home with no children or older children only (teenagers) and especially a home with another doggy companion to show him the ropes.

Zander is $1500 plus transport costs if required. As with all older dogs he will be available with a 4 week trial to make sure he is the right fit for you before a final decision is made.

Blaze is a big boy with a big zest for life. He is looking for a new family to shower with love and affection. He is desexed and ready to go now. If you are looking for a companion to be an integral part of your family, Blaze may be perfect for you.

Blaze gets on well will all people and dogs. He hasn't encountered cats or other companion animals but shows no signs that this would be an issue. He may not be suitable for a family with very young children due to his size and boisterous nature. He has a big personality and sometimes can be vocal, but he is just a big softy at heart and loves cuddles and being included as part of your family.

Great news from the Canberra Royal today with Mabel (Havabella Zigzag to Edinglen) winning Best Puppy in the Toy Group. She will go on to compete for Best Puppy in show on Sunday. Mabel is owned and loved by Michele Lincoln.

On the third day of Christmas our true love gave us Mabel!

‘Havabella ZIGZAG TO Edinglen’ Mabel, the Havanese, is owned and loved by Michele Lincoln in New South Wales.

“Mabel is a typical Havanese, funny, cheeky and full of energy. She loves stealing socks and hiding them.

Mabel will be celebrating Christmas by attending the Dogs NSW Christmas show where she'll get to meet Santa and maybe have a pony ride! Roast Turkey and carrots are on the menu for Christmas day.”
