WE NEED HELP!!
When we received a call about some dogs who needed us, what could we say?
Their owner, who lived on a rural property, had passed away and he had left around 14 dogs behind.
The family were able to find homes for 6 of them but most of the dogs are extremely timid and unsocialised, due to their rural existence.
None of the dogs had any vet work done, most had lived on chains, and they had never been “pets.”
5 of the dogs were dropped off to us on Saturday morning (in the midst of all the chaos) and I received a call to collect the other 3 late Saturday afternoon. The owner’s family did not live locally so the information about the dogs is sketchy at best.
They all seem timid but sweet. Old Yella definitely has the waggiest tail of the bunch!
They have seen the vet today and had their health checks, microchips, heartworm tests and vaccinations. The vet said that they were all very sweet and that although frightened, they did not exhibit any bad behaviour.
Most are very young, between 6 and 8 months old. Bonnie is around 12 months old, Old Yella around 6 yrs old and beautiful Elsie the senior of the bunch at around 8 years old.
They all need foster carers to stay with while they learn what life and love is all about.
At this stage, we do not know a great deal about them. They are shy and everything is new to them, but we have not seen any aggressions to humans or other animals. All seem dog friendly and very gentle, just scared, which is totally understandable.
If you have a special piece of your heart that wants to help an animal to experience the life they have never had, we would love to hear from you. Who knows, you may just meet the missing piece of your heart.
You can apply to foster by filling out the online foster form on our website www.karmasplacerescue.org.au
You must be able to pick up from Wondai QLD.
