Our junior mare herd of Jolene, Dolly and Lacey are already showing great promise. Annie is the only mature heavy mare atm.

OK let's see how long this list takes,
paddock 1. The stallion paddock needs cut in 2 for spraying.
finish building 3-way holding yards and vetting/hand serving area with race and mare crush.
paddock 2. Kirk's veggie patch, weeds, and then graze the top end. Ready fence line for planting fruit/nut trees.
paddock 3, finish roofing on shelter with enclosed yard area, divide in middle to weed/grow pick.
paddock 4 divide the top 2/3rds off and add a gateway between paddock 3 and 4 on the top end.
prepare top end to plant pasture mix..
The idea is to use the top end of 4 as a pick for our agistment horses in the adjoining paddocks 3 and 4.
finish 1 shelter and holding yard between the round yard and existing holding yard.
Pick up panels from Kate and buy more to create a riding-sized round yard to put out the front where Jim lives atm.
bore area prep for trees.
Have most of what is needed it is just a matter of getting started now.
MONDAY will be day 1 so a great way to start the year.
The house list is maybe longer even but we are starting to work through it and seeing the results is great motivation to keep going.

Foals are BABIES
So many sour yearlings from over handling and spoiled pushy yearlings from the wrong handling.
Here at Gateways we have found a consistency in the way some youngsters are turning out as young horses.
If your not going to do daily small lessens but instead just going to cold wean babies then tie them to a post a week before dragging them onto the transport truck and call that handled you are going to get upset buyers and nervous inexperienced youngsters with trust issues.
If you just pat them and scratch buns all day you risk having extremely pushy yearling with no respect for others personal space.
If you clip them drag them to several shows whilst keeping them fully rugged and stable them constantly you will most def risk sour yearlings that want nothing to do with you.
It's all about balance.

Faraway Once Upon a Time has arrived at the breeding centre for the 2023 breeding season, and is still available to a limited number of mares via AI. Walk in/out fresh inseminations are also available.

If you are thinking he might be the ying to your mares yang, please reach out ASAP.

We cannot stress enough that his time there is limited, and he will return home when the final outside mare scans positive.

Warrior has had 4 foals since being with us and has 2 cooking. 3 Colts 1 Filly. 1 buckskin 1 bay 1 bay/brown and 1 bl possibly with a dilute gene.
Going by those odds Annie and Mishka foals that are cooking are both dilute fillies😉

Bone hair feather and I think a dilute gene to boot. How blessed are we. Miss T is extra special and the more I look at her the more I think she may need to stay. I may just need to work extra hard to make that a possibility yet.
