Why did the duck cross the road?

We’re not sure of her motives, but she is safe with us getting lots of cuddles and scratches!

Judging by all the facebook posts on the local pages she has had quite an adventure filled weekend.
If you know her family please let them know she is here!

It’s with gratitude, appreciation and a tinge of sadness that we wish to advise our clients that Dr Ian Lynch will be retiring from Veterinary Practice on the 28th of this month.

Graduating in 1987 as Veterinary Surgeon, Dr Ian spent time as a mixed animal practitioner, then spent some time locuming in the UK and Goldcoast hinterland before settling on the Redcliffe Peninsula with his family and joining the PVS Team.

Dr Ian has been caring for the pets of the Peninsula for the past 20 years and we are so grateful for his experience, care and compassion.

As a team we will miss his Dad Jokes, enthusiasm, team building activities, experience and unflappable nature.

Dr Ian is leaving your pets in the wonderful experienced hands of our clinic owner Dr Abigail Vaughan, Dr Tegan Taylor, Dr Jess Reidel and Dr Tyla Parfitt-Brown.

Join us in wishing Dr Ian the very best retirement full of adventures and laughs!

What do you do when one of your patients for the day is a bit nervous and just needs cuddles?

You make a pup-a-sling of course!

The only way to keep your hands free to keep doing what you need too but make sure your patient is getting all the love she needs.

Lola sure was happy with Nurse Bridee’s ingenuity!

Some helpful tips for making sure your pets are safe during the New Years Eve festivities!

Happy New Year!

If you’re celebrating with your fur family at home tonight, remember the following tips to help them manage loud fireworks and party noises:

• Try to keep your dog’s routine going and walk them earlier in the day to make them feel relaxed later in the day

• Check your gates and fences for safe latching

• Treat often for good behaviour (resting, laying down, relaxing), and for coping with new guests

• Remind your guests that you have a dog that needs to stay indoors during the fireworks

• Make sure your dog is wearing a collar and is microchipped

• Close your curtains or blinds as needed if the fireworks upset your dog

• Give them their favourite long-lasting chew to help distract them during noises in a calm, safe place

• Avoid feeding them party food as it may upset their stomach

Our team will continue to be here to support you as needed xo

The Peninsula is blessed with so many walking areas for us and our dogs to enjoy.

But do you know what is good doggy etiquette?

Just because your dog is friendly doesn't mean you should let it run up to any dog, especially another dog on lead.
You never know, that dog may be in training, reactive or working.

Contrary to popular belief not all dogs want to socialise with other people and dogs while out exploring the neighbourhood with their people.
Even the friendliest of dogs can also become reactive on lead when their ability to run away (flight instinct) is inhibited by a lead.

Please keep your dog at a distance and ask the owner before approaching, it might just save you a visit to us!

We have an abundance of on lead and off lead areas we should all be able to enjoy with our dogs.

Here's a helpful little picture.

Can we get a massive shout out for gorgeous Maggie!

Maggie’s owner had a medical emergency earlier this week and Maggie ran to the house nextdoor barking at their neighbour, once Maggie had gained her attention she ran back home with the neighbour following close behind.
Maggie’s owner was found unconscious and an ambulance was called.

Maggie’s Dad is now well at home very grateful for his best mate!

Dogs really are mans best friend!
