This is Cherry, a sweet and spritely 14 month old Kelpie.

Cherry’s owners noticed that she was suddenly quite wobbly in her back legs after running in the paddock. See if you can spot this in the first video 👀

Cherry’s owners booked her in for a physiotherapy assessment and treatment to complement the medical management provided by her vet.

After a thorough assessment, it was determined that Cherry had back pain and that the symptoms in her back legs were neurological.

Cherry received manual therapy, laser and a home exercise program. Cherry’s owners also received advice on how to conservatively manage Cherry’s recovery.

Cherry was reviewed one week after her initial assessment and we are pleased to report that she is doing much better!

Great work Cherry and owners! You are all doing a fantastic job ☺️🐾❤️

This gorgeous girl is Jinxx, an almost 3 y.o. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Her owner noticed that she was not particularly comfortable hopping off the couch or going up and down the stairs.

A thorough assessment determined Jinxx was tight and tender through her back muscles.

Jinxx was the perfect patient whilst receiving manual therapy, stretches, laser and a home exercise program.

Well done Jinxx and mum! 🐾❤️

A fantastic post from a colleague on why you should choose a qualified animal physiotherapist!

🐾 Why Choose a Qualified Physiotherapist for Your Furry Companion? 🐾

When it comes to your pet's health, it's essential to seek the best care possible. Here’s why choosing a qualified physiotherapist is crucial over non-physios like massage therapists or rehab therapists:
University Bachelor Degree: Qualified physiotherapists hold a recognized degree in physiotherapy, ensuring a solid foundation of knowledge and expertise in animal care.
Strong Understanding of Body Mechanics: They possess a deep understanding of body mechanics and movement patterns, allowing for precise assessment and treatment tailored to your pet's needs.
In-Depth Training on Injury Recovery: Physiotherapists undergo extensive training on injury recovery, repair, and prevention, equipping them with the skills to facilitate your pet's healing process effectively.
Evidence-Based Practice: They utilise evidence-based practices, ensuring that the treatments provided are grounded in the latest research and proven methodologies.
Exercise Prescription Specialists: Qualified physiotherapists are skilled in developing personalised exercise programs that promote strength, flexibility, and overall wellness for your furry friend.
Manual Therapy and Advanced Modalities: They are proficient in manual therapy techniques and the application of evidence-based modalities like laser therapy and dry needling, enhancing recovery and pain management.
Hydrotherapy Expertise: Physiotherapists have a thorough understanding of hydrotherapy and its application to load management, offering low-impact rehabilitation options to support recovery.
Don't settle for anything less when it comes to your pet's health! Choose a qualified physiotherapist who can provide the specialised care your furry companion deserves. 🐶❤️

This is Slinky, a 9 y.o. Dachshund.

This beautiful boy came in for assessment and treatment after having surgery for IVDD earlier in the year.

For those unfamiliar with IVDD, we recommend you have a look at this website as it’s a brilliant source of information:

https://ivdd.org.au/

Slinky received manual therapy, stretches, laser and a home exercise program.

Despite being a little unsure at the beginning of the session, Slinky did a fantastic job during treatment and even enjoyed a lickimat at the end.

Great work Slinky 🥰🐾

What a great outcome! ✨

This is Waffle, a 12 y.o. West Highland Terrier cross.

We first met Waffle two weeks ago. He came in for assessment and treatment of severe back pain that was impacting his ability to walk and move comfortably.

Waffle’s owner brought him back in today for a review and reported he is now doing 95% better!

Appropriate medication from the vets, some physiotherapy treatment, ongoing management at home and time have made the world of difference for this lovely dog.

We are so happy with this result. Fantastic work Waffle and family! 🐾❤️

My very clever peer and mentor is currently completing her PhD 🎓 She has just had one of her review articles published!

The article focusses on the challenges of diagnosing equine back pain from the physiotherapist perspective.

This gorgeous girl is Kai, a 10 y.o. working Border Collie.

Kai was brought to BARC by her owner to find and treat her areas of soreness.

Spoiler: We found them!

Kai was a good girl when receiving her manual therapy and practicing her home exercise program.

Great work Kai! 🐾❤️
