A very successful day of Equi-lates lessons with Sabine Equine HSD - Health, Spine & Dentistry today, all those who participated had a great time and have alot of homework to work on to our next lesson day.
Plenty of smiles throughout, as well as plenty of puffing after working super hard on the exercises at hand. 🤣👌

This week I've introduced balance pads to the inhouse program horses.

Here you can see:
⚫️Jet actually doing a great job considering his injury, and getting great releases.
⚪️Pepper has a very different set of challenges to Jet, and finds stability on the pads quite difficult but concentrates very hard on them.

Water treadmill swims can be undertaken at Equine HSD in Seymour, or at our facility in Stanhope.

🎉🎉 After 1️⃣1️⃣ weeks, our 3yo WB rehabber Jet has been let out of jail!🔒
Jet arrived to us after having had full scintigriphy, xrays, & ultrasound diagnosing a broken 3rd trochanter in his OSH.

He started in our safe 6x4m rubber lined box on strict stable rest, moving to small daily hand walks whilst still confined, out of the stable and to 6x6m yard, then to 13.5x4.5m yard. He is now out during the day in this grassy-ish electric yard during the day and away in the safety of the enclosed 13.5x4.5m yards overnight.
And we are SO excited with how he has handled his first few days out -
***Note: Jet was locked up all of yesterday ⛈️🌬 precautionary (he's very good don't get me wrong but lets not be silly here 🤣).

Jet has progressed from full box rest, to daily handwalking & prescribed exercises, to now having short water treadmill swims twice a week.
He has multiple times weekly bodywork, including infrared light therapy & therapeutic ultrasound, equissage - combined with check ups from our wonderful Vet Sabine from Equine HSD - Health, Spine & Dentistry, diagnostic ultrasound & also shockwave therapy.

The excitement is real when we have the progress he has made, and then to be a big giant baby at only 3yo and behave himself.

A little progression shot of big fella Jet - who has been entrusted to EES with his long term rehabilitation.

4.5 weeks between the photos -
📷 Top: strict box rest for 4 weeks from arrival date, main concern was keeping him quiet & start the healing process with some (but minimal) bodywork - but with it building each week.
📷 Bottom: graduating up a size in yards, going on daily 10minute handwalk & pole sessions, backing and overall strengthing exercises. Day 1 on the water treadmill ✅️
3 visits from our Vet Dr Sabine Ware for checkups and shockwave as requested from Ballarat Vets.

Yesterday marked his 2nd session on our fabulous water treadmill, where he had improved out of sight from his first swim. Straighter and already more powerful, finding those ever so elusive core muscles which are of course his stabilizing muscles meaning he wasn't unintentionally kicking the size of the treadmill with each swing of his affected hind leg.

Good work big Jetty, you're such a delightful baby to work with especially considering you are so damn big and only 3yo, and are not broken in etc. 🤩

Watch this space for check in's along Jets rehabilitation journey - and make sure to give him some love when you pull up into the car park at Erin's Equine, he will be more than happy to give you a smooch (just like his little yard buddy we snaffled 'Cheeky').

With a day of dentals/lameness work ups for Equine Health Spine & Dentistry, another 8 for farrier work with Kaiden Taylor + 2 swims & 3 treatments for myself, our purpose build carpark & undercover tie ups were in high rotational demand today. Another newbie having their introductory water treadmill swim this week and passing with flying colours. Those who have worked with us know we like to keep things very simple for their first swim, relaxation & taking our time creates the least amount of anxiety in these horses. This method isn't as exciting but it sure works to create a nice working environment for your horse to want to come back time and time again. 20minute swims are always available with 30minute swims available at Erin's discretion to those horses who have shown they understand the drill and have the core strength & fitness to do more. 😻 Online bookings taken for onsite services via the BOOK NOW button our profile page. 😊

Another successful Vet day with Sabine from Equine HSD - Health, Spine & Dentistry over a list of horses for dentistry, lameness evaluation & shockwave today. Sabine's own horse 'Squirt' also came along for a water treadmill swim as part of his cross training & strengthening exercise day, and even scored himself a tailwash and conditioning treatment complimented by a new tie in tailbag, made by EES. Sundays are for strength & conditioning training, helping to improve straightness, topline, & consistency in the mouth/headset. It isn't about acceptance of the bit, or kicking and pulling, it's about ensuring your horse's musculature is prepared and ready to do the job at hand. 👌🏊‍♀️🏋‍♀️

All set up at Bunnaloo day#1, come say hi!

Cross training and recovery day on the wster treadmill, followed by red light therapy treatment for Unicorn Peppy. After 7 weeks at the breakers it was time to re-introduce her to some cross training. Great for the mind and the body by increasing stride length, improving straightness & encouraging better use of the core muscles. This will now be a weekly part of Pepper's exercise routine as it is so beneficial. Red light therapy is a fabulous non-invasive holistic therapy that follows the chinese medicine acupuncture lines, aiming to balance up meridians that help keep your horse performing at their best as well as utilising their feed we give them.
