Meet “Rebel” the Red-bellied Black Snake.
Earlier this week, Ben caught this little Red-bellied Black Snake from a local kindergarten in Beerwah.. but it made him work for it.
This little fella had set up shop within the garden of the play area for almost three weeks, stopping a lot of playtime for the local kids before we got the call.
Ben did some minor landscaping, removing thick vegetation to reveal where he was hiding, but couldn’t get him on the first try.
The next day, the staff found him under one of their bins, and unfortunately, he had a couple of small crush injuries from the bin. Ben was able to catch him and take him to Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, where the amazing crew were able to treat him and get him back to full health before handing him back for release.
Huge thanks to the friendly, amazing staff at the kindergarten for working with us and staying so patient, and of course Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital for taking such good care of little Rebel.
