Sunshine Coast Parrot Rescue Sunshine Coast Parrot Rescue was started November 2020 by bird loving people and are here to help find forever homes for companion parrots in need.

It is with great sadness that we have decided to temporarily close the Sunshine Coast Parrot Rescue due to health issues.

It has been a very rewarding experience to be able to unite our feathered friends with their forever homes.

We would love to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped and supported us on this journey.

Personality: Ollie is a very independent young lady. She is semi tame and once she is comfortable with you will willingly step up on your finger and sit on your shoulder. She doesn’t like scratches but is happy to sit and watch the world.

She loves her toys and to have a good chat with you in the morning. We have tried pairing her with other birds but have had no luck yet. She has been solo all her life. Ollie is free flighted.

Personality: Luna is a beautiful young lady, she is super sweet and just loves a good scratch and cuddle. Luna is hand raised. She can be a little shy when first meeting her but warms up to you very quickly.

Parrotlets are one of the smallest parrots in the world even smaller than a budgies. Even though they are a small parrot they can have a huge personality. They are also super smart and playful. They require a lot of time given to them and foraging activities to keep their minds active.

Location: Sunshine Coast.

Personality: Ricky is a very social young man once he is settled and comfortable with his new environment. He loves to sit on your shoulder and follow you around the house as he is fully flighted. Ricky does love a good scratch but only when he wants it so trust building is a must for him. This means it may take up to a month for him and you to bond and get in sync with each other’s routine and personality.

Ricky loves to whistle and sing, if you are singing “if your happy and you know it” he will do the “ clap clap” part of the song. He will even blow you kisses at bed time.

Because Ricky may be a bit overwhelmed by going to a new home, we are looking for new owners who have already had experience with birds. He will not be suited to homes with young children as he may be spooked easily by little hands.

Personality: As you can see from the photo Pixel has a huge personality. Pixel can be quite shy to new people but once he/she gets to know you is a very sweet bird. We believe Pixel was hand raised but has lost trust in humans. With time, patience and a loving home we believe he/she will be able to be tamed into a wonderful family member. This will require someone who has had green cheek conures or other companion birds in the past.

Not a lot is known about Pixels history as he/she was handed into a vet as a lost pet and unfortunately through the vet and our rescue we were unable to find his/her original owner.

Pixel is currently being transitioned off seed and onto Vetafarm Nutriblend pellets.

Personality: Leo has a huge personality and it takes a little time for him to get to know you. He is best suited to families that have experience with quakers and/or medium sized birds.
He is a lovely bird with a lot of love to give.
He is best suited to to homes where he is the only bird as he can be quite possessive towards other birds.

Leo is smart, he loves all his foraging toys and has started to touch train with his old owners. Leo does currently has his wings clipped but is still a very strong flyer.

Leo doesn’t mind to be picked up and handled once he gets to know you. As most quakers he loves water, he loves having a dish in the bottom of the cage he can splash around in and then sunning himself to dry off. I would definitely think about getting a shower perch for him so he can spend some time in the warm steam.

Personality: Jules & Cookie came from a beautiful loving home and is now looking for a new family to call there forever home. They have been living inside for most of their life in a beautiful big cage. They would be looking at the same set up or are happy to be added to a flock of budgies in an aviary. 

These beautiful birds are very chatty and will come upto the cage to have a whistle and chat with you. They love having fresh grass seeds added to the cage for natural enrichment along with native flowers too.

Jimmy & Buddy were hand raised but due to their families not being able to spend time with them, they have reverted back to being aviary birds.

Jimmy will come upto to cage and have a chat and whistle with you once settled into the new environment.

Jimmy & Buddy have been kept inside all of their lives but could go into an aviary with other cockatiels.
