Charlee and I have come a long way in terms of her grooming over the years, however touching her legs and paws were something I was never able to do in a way that was stress-free for her😔 Charlee is a beach babe, her paw pads are always full of sandy knots, so not shaving them has never been an option… In October Belinda from @holistichounds_sunshinecoast came to my salon. Belinda has helped me connect and understand my own dog’s on a deeper level, so I was 100% confident that she would be able to guide me with Charlee’s needs and my handling of her. For me grooming has always been so much more than making dogs look pretty, it’s about making them feel as relaxed as possible in a situation they would rather not be in. For most dogs I’ve been able to achieve this, but for Charlee I was lacking the skills needed. Yesterday I drew on all the guidance Belinda has given me, both with Charlee and my own dogs, to be able to give Charlee a waaaaayyyyy less stressful grooming experience💫 I might have cried… tears of relief that I was finally understanding what this girl needed from me, tears of guilt for having taken so long to get there… I still have so much to learn, however for this moment I’m rejoicing on how far I’ve come 💫🐕 #joyinthejourney

Today I decided to pre-clip Queen Smartie prior to her bath. I usually just do her hygiene areas when she’s laying down, however by doing as much of her body as possible it means her standing time on the table is heavily reduced, making it less tiring for her 14yr old legs🥰

🩷Lexi… Puppy Lexi absolutely nailed her first salon visit today… Why? Because her mum followed my ‘at-home’ instructions to the letter, so that when Lexi entered a strange environment with a strange person she was already set up for success! At home Lexi has been exposed to water, hair dryer, comb, brush and excessive touch (particularly on her face and paws), these things truly do matter and Lexi was proof of that today!
