The Benefits of Beef Tendons for Dogs: A Healthy and Delicious Food Supplement 🐕 rogueraw.com.au/products/beef-tendons-500g

Beef tendons have gained popularity as a healthy, natural feeding option. They're an excellent choice for your dog’s diet and here's how they can contribute to their overall well-being.

1. High in Protein and Low in Fat
Protein is a crucial component of a dog's diet, supporting muscle development and overall health. Beef tendons are rich in protein, providing a high-quality source that can help maintain your dog's muscle mass and energy levels. Additionally, they are low in fat, making them a suitable treat for dogs who need to watch their weight or are prone to obesity.

2. Promotes Dental Health
One of the standout benefits of beef tendons is their ability to promote dental health. Chewing on tendons helps to naturally clean your dog’s teeth by reducing plaque and tartar buildup. This mechanical action can help prevent gum disease and bad breath, leading to better oral hygiene and overall health.

3. Natural and Minimally Processed
Many commercial dog treats contain artificial additives, preservatives, and fillers that can be harmful to your dog’s health. Beef tendons are a natural and minimally processed alternative. When sourced from reputable suppliers, they are free from harmful chemicals, providing a safer treat option for your pet.

4. Rich in Collagen
Collagen is a protein that is essential for maintaining healthy joints, skin, and coat in dogs. Beef tendons are rich in collagen, which can help support joint health and mobility, particularly in aging dogs or those with joint issues. Additionally, collagen contributes to a shiny, healthy coat and can improve skin elasticity and hydration.

5. Long-Lasting Chew
Dogs love to chew, and providing them with a durable treat can keep them entertained and mentally stimulated. Beef tendons are tough and long-lasting, offering a satisfying chew that can help alleviate boredom and reduce stress. This makes them an excellent choice for dogs that tend to chew on furniture or other household items.

6. Supports Digestive Health
Beef tendons are easily digestible compared to some other animal parts and rawhide products. They are less likely to cause digestive upset and can even help support healthy digestion due to their natural composition. This makes them a great option for dogs with sensitive stomachs or those prone to digestive issues.

Conclusion
Beef tendons offer numerous health benefits that contribute to your dog's overall well-being. From promoting dental health and joint support to providing a high-protein, low-fat snack, beef tendons are a natural, nutritious option that dogs love. Add some beef tendons and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing you’re giving them a healthy, beneficial food supplement.

28/04/2024

Cats, our enigmatic and beloved companions who often possess an air of mystery about them, there's no denying their unique charm. But when it comes to their dietary habits, the intrigue deepens. This article uncovers the secrets of feline feeding, exploring their dental anatomy, natural diet, and unique nutritional needs. Between 50-90% of adult cats have some form of dental disease and understanding how their diet plays a part on this is very important for their health and wellbeing.

Understanding Feline Dental Anatomy:
To comprehend how cats process their food, it's essential to delve into their dental anatomy. Unlike humans, who possess flat molars for grinding, and sharp incisors for cutting, cats have specialized teeth designed for their carnivorous lifestyle. Their sharp, pointed teeth, including incisors, canines, and carnassial teeth, are optimized for gripping, tearing, and shearing flesh. This adaptation reflects their evolutionary history as obligate carnivores, animals that rely solely on meat for sustenance.

Do Cats Masticate Their Food?
The concept of mastication, or chewing, is central to our understanding of how animals process their food. While humans thoroughly chew their meals to facilitate digestion, cats have a different approach. Rather than engaging in extensive mastication, cats rely on their specialized dental structure to tear and shear their prey into manageable pieces. This process, known as "occluding," involves the repetitive sliding of their sharp teeth against each other to slice through flesh and tendon. Consequently, cats are more aptly described as "masticating" rather than engaging in true chewing.

The Best Natural Diet for Feline Health:
Understanding cats' natural dietary requirements is paramount for ensuring their optimal health and well-being. As obligate carnivores, cats thrive on a diet rich in animal protein and fat, mirroring the composition of their ancestral prey. A balanced diet for cats should primarily consist of high-quality meat, supplemented with essential nutrients like taurine, vitamins, and minerals. Raw meat, organs, and bones closely mimic the nutritional profile of their natural diet, promoting digestive health, muscle maintenance, and overall vitality.

Differences Between Cats and Dogs:
While cats and dogs are both beloved pets, their dietary needs differ significantly due to their evolutionary backgrounds. Dogs, while also carnivores, have adapted to a more omnivorous diet over time, allowing them to derive some nutrients from a variety of sources, including grains and vegetables. In contrast, cats lack certain digestive enzymes necessary for breaking down plant matter efficiently, making a meat-based diet essential for meeting their nutritional requirements. Additionally, cats have higher protein and fat needs compared to dogs, reflecting their unique metabolic demands as obligate carnivores.

Conclusion:
In the realm of feline nutrition, understanding the intricacies of cats' dietary habits is crucial for providing them with the best possible care. While cats may not chew their food in the same way humans do, their specialized dental anatomy and feeding behaviors are finely tuned to their carnivorous nature. By offering a diet rich in high-quality meat and nutrients, cat owners can support their feline companions' digestive health, dental hygiene, and overall vitality. Remember, when it comes to feeding your feline friend, honoring their carnivorous heritage is key to unlocking the secrets of optimal feline nutrition.

Ever wondered about the role bones play in your furry friend's diet?

Here's the scoop!

🍖 How many bones a week? Moderation is key! Offer bones a few times a week as part of a balanced diet, but adjust based on your pup's size, age, and health.

🦷 Benefits & Risks: Bones offer dental benefits, mental stimulation, and essential nutrients like calcium, collagen, chondroitin, and trace minerals. However, excessive consumption can pose risks such as choking or gastrointestinal issues. Supervision is crucial!

💡 Why bones? Chewing on bones naturally cleans teeth, provides mental stimulation, stress relief and supports bone health. Just be sure to choose the right type and size for your dog. Start off with a large bone to teach them how to eat them first as it’s an exciting first experience. A general guide to bones, it should be the size of their head so they don’t choke on the bone.

🍗 Soft vs. Hard Bones: Soft bones like chicken/turkey/duck necks, feet and frames are safer and less likely to cause damage, while hard bones like buffalo ribs, vertebrae, lamb and beef brisket offer dental benefits but should be given under close supervision. We don’t recommend hard heavy bones like femurs as they can cause damage to your pet’s teeth (but great for broths). Especially if your dog likes to bite down hard on bones.

Remember, when it comes to bones, safety always comes first! Consult with your vet if your pet has prior conditions and choose bones wisely to keep your furry friend happy and healthy. 🦴 🐾

Bear certainly is!
On the menu tonight is Green Tripe, Primal Balance +, Primal Lamb Mix, Water Buffalo, Water Buffalo Bone, Omega Oil and Collagen Boost. This makes up today's 800g dinner.

While Bear is eating, his owner is training him not to be food aggressive at the same time. This started from when he was a pup.. He understands that no one is out to steal his food, isn't aggressive towards people when having high value items like raw food and in the worst case scenario be able to remove items that are not meant to be consumed.

This should be in everyone's basic training with their fur babies for your safety and theirs. 🐕

Collagen Boost

Did you know liquid collagen is fast absorbing, high in chondroitin and has no waste?

When it comes to our furry companions' well-being, maintaining optimal joint health is paramount. Dogs and cats, like humans, can experience joint issues as they age or due to various health conditions. To support their joint health, pet owners often turn to supplements containing chondroitin and collagen type 1. But what exactly are these substances, and why are they essential for our pets?

Chondroitin is the building block of cartilage, a vital component of cartilage and the flexible connective tissue found in joints. It belongs to a group of molecules called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), which are long chains of sugars that help provide cartilage with its elasticity and resistance to compression.

One of the primary roles of chondroitin is to attract and retain water within the cartilage, which helps cushion the joints and provides lubrication during movement.
Collagen Type 1 is about strength and structure. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and is a major component of various tissues, including skin, bones, tendons, and ligaments. In joints, collagen type 1 is particularly important as it provides strength and structure to the connective tissues surrounding the joint.

These fibres help maintain the integrity of the joint capsule and provide support to the surrounding ligaments and tendons.

Why is it good for your pet?
Both chondroitin and collagen type 1 play crucial roles in maintaining joint health and mobility in dogs and cats, especially as they age. They provide joint support, managing joint conditions, preventing injuries and enhancing mobility.

Which is better: liquid or powdered Collagen?

The primary difference between liquid and powdered collagen lies in their formulation and the manufacturing process.
Powdered collagen is produced through a process of extraction and drying, where collagen-rich animal tissues are treated to remove non-collagenous components and water content. The remaining collagen is then dried and ground into a fine powder.
Liquid collagen undergoes a process called enzymatic hydrolysis, where enzymes are used to break down the collagen protein into smaller peptides. This process helps improve the bioavailability and absorption of collagen in the body. Hydrolysed collagen peptides are often touted for their superior bioavailability and absorption compared to powdered collagen.

The smaller peptide size allows for easier digestion and absorption, potentially leading to faster results in terms of skin, joint, and overall collagen-related benefits.
Powdered collagen retains the natural structure and integrity of collagen protein, along with other nutrients present in the source material. While it may have slightly lower bioavailability compared to hydrolysed collagen peptides. The body will not absorb collagen so well in its whole form.

When choosing collagen and chondroitin sources or supplements for your pets, it's essential to consider the quality and purity of the ingredients from reputable companies.

Why do you need Liquid Collagen in your pets diet?

To summarize, Liquid Collagen is better for the bioavailability and absorption to support joint health, promote healthy skin and coat, aid in digestive health, provides immune support, assists in wound healing, absorbs better into their system and contributes to hydration. Adding liquid collagen to your pet's diet, in conjunction with a balanced nutrition plan, will help support their overall well-being and vitality.
Additionally, consult with your veterinarian before introducing any new supplements into your pet's diet, especially if they have existing health conditions or are taking medications.

It's no big secret that dogs need bones as part of their diet. What's less known is that grass fed bones have much higher levels of vital nutrients such as calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium, than factory farmed produce. It's these very minerals that are the MAIN REASONS WE FEED BONES in the first place. Free ranged turkeys and animals have different bones and meat, they're moving, strong, getting sun ( Vitamin D) and this is the produce dogs need to be healthy.

Feeding poorly raised produce from sickly animals cannot be compared for so many reasons.
So! Our open ranged turkey bones should be high on the list as go-to to raw meaty bones for your dogs wellbeing. Pasture raised turkey is free of synthetic hormones and growth promoters, which can have negative health effects on dogs with health issues such as sensitive skin and and allergies. If you're into making bone broth these are IT!

Pasture raised turkey is more humanely raised than farmed turkey, the birds are not kept in cramped, stressful conditions.

The big ticket is that compared to turkey from factory farms, grass-fed turkey has less saturated fat, cholesterol, and calories. It also has more vitamin E, beta-carotene and vitamin C.

It has two to four times more Omega-3s than meat from animals fed grain.

Grain-fed produce is high in Omega-6 fats. They’re also necessary for good health but Omega-6s are stiffer, and promote blood clotting and inflammation. For dogs with skin issues, joint problems and allergies you dont need more of that!

Turkey feet have so many benefits, they are excellent source of collagen, minerals, vitamins and chondroitin and a must for oral hygeine. Chewy, chunky and highly recommended for bone and joint health in dogs...hard to beat pasture ranged turkey feet ! Mind you they're BIG so keep in mind that they're suitable for medium to giant sized dogs.

Turkey frames are excellent as whole meals for dogs, boredom busters excellent source of collagen, minerals, vitamins and chondroitin and a must for oral hygeine. Suitable for medium to giant sized dogs.

Pasture Raised Turkeys
Here's where our turkey products come from. A small, all natural, all Australian farm where the birds are free to roam an live stress free healthy pasture ranged lives. Thank you for Supporting ethical farming and it's one of the LAST remaining pasture raised all natural farms in Australia.
