Working with Western Sydney Diabetes Alliance - our aim is to provide accessible, inexpensive good quality fresh food.

4 DAY ORDER CYCLE – FOR Tuesday pick up

Thursday 9pm – Order creation
It’s an OPT OUT SYSTEM so if you don’t want an order for the coming week, you must suspend prior to Thursday 9pm. Your “WISH LIST VOTE” and any changes you wish to make to your household size must also be done by Thursday 9pm. Friday - Starting Order Published
Login take up to 3 things out and JOIN SPLITS. Sunday 9pm - CUTOFF
Orders closed. There are 2 automatic processing’s, if those both decline - a $5 recharge fee is applied as it pays for someone to manually reprocess. You must pay BEFORE pick-up. Tuesday - PICK UP. You must pick up day of delivery at the pick-up time or arrange with Hubster. Home Delivery offered but please ask first. PAYMENTS
You must pay for your order once committed to an order cycle. Once in an Order Cycle we cannot withdraw an order. It is your responsibility to suspend the correct weeks. ORDERING SYSTEM
Dead simple. You share boxes online using the App. SUSPENDING ORDERS
When you tick the date, wait, it will turn red to confirm suspension. You’re expected to order weekly or fortnightly. STARTING ORDER
There’s a Starting Order based on your weekly ‘wish list’ VOTE and you can take out up to 3 things. Every week BEFORE Order Creation do a Wish List Vote to help Hubster (person who organisers Hub) to set up Starting Order. WANT MORE? SHARE BOXES known as SPLITS
If you wish for more, you join Splits and share boxes. You can suggest a box to share or to your Hubster. Such as saying to your group: “Who’d like to share a box of apples?”

At order cut-off you pay automatically online (Visa or Mastercard & Secure Eway Payment gateway) then boxes from growers & food wholesalers come to the Hubster’s house for packing. You pick up from their place or they may offer home delivery. FRUIT, VEG, BREAD, EGGS – Order, pay, receive this week
GROCERIES – Order, pay, receive next week due to fresh roasting of coffee and made to order. BREAD baker direct – Minimum HUB order total is $30
GROCERIES wholesaler direct – Minimum HUB order is $50
MEAT AND SEAFOOD (NEW) – Order every 4 weeks. READ THE AMOUNTS YOU ARE PURCHASING
Please check carefully if the items are single, handfuls, 500gm, 1 kg etc. Don't assume it's by one item. EXAMPLE: Cherries sold by the box, make sure you’re not putting in 5 thinking it's handfuls when it's boxes. Read the descriptions please. EXTRAS
There are ALWAYS extras as the box belongs to members so your Hubster will divvy extras when available. NOT WANT AN ORDER? There are no contracts, you can suspend orders when you don’t want them. WANT EXACTLY 1 tomato 2 oranges? Then Box Divvy is not for you. This is a coop and things are in handfuls NOT exact items. You need to be flexible but you'll always get good value. We are a group of community minded people wanting to change the food system. Reduce packaging and pay our farmers fairly. By reducing our carbon footprint by 90% this means we buy in bulk as a group and then share it. We need to be a bit flexible. You will know roughly what you will get but you can’t get exact. We have a Packing Guide but the numbers will change as produce is smaller or larger. Mostly you will get extras overall. HOW DO I KNOW WHAT I SPEND? EASY. You will pay the STARTING ORDER PLUS if you join in SPLITS or ADD Groceries. At the bottom of MY ORDER you will see the MAX you will pay if all your SPLITS get over the line, any groceries you’ve ordered and the Starting Order. You can reduce the SPLITS or Groceries you joined BEFORE CUTOFF. PACKAGING
Much of the produce comes loose so please provide your Hubster with a NAME LABELLED BAG: ALSO - calico/wash nets to put handfuls in (do not expect your Hubster to provide paper bags please): Bring in your old icecream containers, for example, for the Hub to put soft stuff in. If you get an item in plastic, recycle it in your soft plastic bin. We don't interrupt the packing from the farmer. Farmers are trying to work out how to transport produce and it can’t always be plastic free - for the moment. The Sugar Cane bags are not strong, don't last and definitely not airtight. Cardboard and paper fall apart. New technology is being worked on. NOT FOR ME
If after you’ve tried it and Box Divvy is not working the way you want, then you can cancel membership. So? Join our group to make a difference. You have the power to do so. Cut your food bill significantly – Wow! The goal: to cut your food bill, without compromising on the quality, freshness and variety of food. With minimal effort, minimal packaging and food miles, and still paying farmers and suppliers a fair price for their produce.

Who doesn’t love roasted cauliflower?

Try this combo of spices: (1 tbs) cumin, (2 tsp) turmeric and (1 tsp) cayenne pepper or chilli flakes. Toss cauliflower florets with olive oil, spices, salt and pepper. Roast in hot oven.

Delicious.

To avoid a pile up in the fridge as our next delivery is heading our way tomorrow morning, I decided just to roast all my beautiful capsicums.

I might add them to a pasta sauce, have them as a side dish or serve on an antipasto platter. Lots of options.

I just tossed them in olive oil, and added dried oregano, garlic, salt and pepper. Approx 20 min on 230 degrees.

Our mini beef tenderloin delivered with our Chilled order last week was DIVINE!!

Served with a warm roasted cauliflower, chickpea and quinoa salad.

10/10 Box Divvy meal…….

* prepped beef as per recipe below and the cooking time was spot on (seared on hot grill pan first then 40 min on 120 degrees and rested for 10 min. Just used a coffee rub and olive oil to marinade.)

🌶️ ooh this was definitely going to wake up the tastebuds!!!

Spicy prawn fried rice - all fresh ingredients were from my Box Divvy order: bacon, eggs, spring onions, garlic, ginger and delicious prawns from Pyrmont Seafood.

No unnecessary trips to the supermarkets needed!

We had red, yellow and green capsicums in our delivery yesterday so took the opportunity to make this colourful couscous salad to accompany the salmon fillets received in our Saturday chilled order 😋.

Winter fruit salads are made extra special with passionfruit from Queensland.

Today we are getting almost 100 purple passionfruit from Bunderberg in our delivery!

Unbelievably sweet and full of pulp, I’m planning to make a couple of jars of passionfruit curd this week. 🥰

Comfort food = big bowl of pasta 🍝

This spicy sauce was based on our favourite Pasta alla Norma. While the aubergines were roasting in the oven, I sautéed shallots and garlic, added grape tomatoes that needed using up, threw in some harissa paste and 2 cans of crushed tomatoes. This sauce simmered until the aubergines were done and added to the pot.

Topped with some basil leaves and a generous amount of Parmesan, all we now needed to finish it off were a few chorizo sausages which we received in our chilled order on Saturday.

YUM!!!!!!! Another great Box Divvy meal 🥰

A friend of mine is now living on Scotland Island and when I visited her today, I heard she had just received her first box divvy order!

Baby Spinach - loves the cold and is crispier in winter.

There’s a lot of local spinach around at the moment, so I’ll be ordering a big bag of it this week.

We love it in salads and just adding it to curries, casseroles and stir fries.

Wednesday must be the new Thursday!

Dinner with friends is made easy with our Box Divvy produce close at hand.

Tonight I made a really delicious Mediterranean Chickpea Pilaf, loaded with vegetables (spinach, sweet potato, zucchini, rocket), herbs (coriander, parsley) and topped with Handlers Mediterranean lamb, yoghurt and pomegranate.

We order our seafood and meat which is delivered to our door on Saturdays.

This week, Handler Meat Rushcutters Bay has secured a supply of Mini Tenderloins, selling for around $39 a kilo.

Coming in a little under 1 kilo, they are super-tender and incredible value.

You can either oven-roast them (recipe from RecipeTinEats in comments) or slice them into steaks and pan-fry or barbecue. 😋

Our carrots this week will come from both Queensland – where the Moffatt family is growing and picking them about an hour west of the Gold Coast – and from East Gippsland. Sweet and crisp, they require a whole-of-family approach.

When you are part of the Box Divvy community, you know where your produce comes from and you know that carrots will taste like real carrots 🥕 🥕

Our hub’s 4 year anniversary slipped by without us (me!) noticing!!

It has been a great journey building the hub with a group of friends and now getting to know locals who have joined us along the way.

Hashweh Rice (Arabic Keema
Rice with ground beef) is a delicious Middle Eastern rice dish with minced beef and vegetables.

Seasoned with warm spices, it's the perfect one pot Box Divvy meal.

Part of our regular Sat chilled delivery is the packet of barramundi fillets from Pyrmont Seafoods.

We pulled out one of our favourite recipes from Belicious Foods - Goan Fish Curry - as we had some locally grown buk choy in our box divvy box today and it was a great opportunity to use up veggies from last week.

Perfect weeknight dinner.

It doesn’t get much better than this Spice Roasted Vegetables with Harissa Beans and Yoghurt.

I did adapt a little as used eggplant and red capsicums (instead of eggplant and cauliflower) and cannelloni beans instead of butter beans (that’s was what I had!) plus I tossed in coriander as well as parsley (part of my veggie drawer rescue!). And final edit - we sautéed a few Handlers lamb sausages with the onions as we just felt like having some meat!

Very very tasty and will be on the menu again on these cooler evenings. Perfect for leftovers too.

Pomegranates star in a lot of our dishes, sprinkled on salads, roasts and decorating any large platter of food. They’re not only pretty but are packed with nutrients and antioxidants.

We have been enjoying beautiful NSW pomegranates so why not stock up while they are in season? A tip to easily freeze pomegranate seeds is attached in the comments.

It is getting cooler but we still managed to squeeze in another hearty salad.

This is one of our favourite kale salads at the moment, loaded with sweet potatoes, toasted pumpkin seeds and crunchy wild rice.

Broccoli and broccolini are great value this week.

We used a head of broccoli 🥦 to make a super yummy Raw shredded broccoli salad with cranberries, almonds and cashew garlic cream.

I’ve posted this recipe before but like all good dishes, there’s no harm in repeating it especially with the delicious new season Granny Smiths that are coming our way.

This is a Sicilian Apple Cake, a little bit strudel, a little bit cake and very YUM. We enjoyed it again over the weekend.

One thing I love about Box Divvy is the freshness of the produce. Everything seems to last for ages and more importantly, everything just tastes better, from the corn 🌽 to cauliflowers, 🥒cucumbers to the 🍆 eggplant. I’m not sure why I haven’t ordered the 2kg box of green prawns before but they should definitely be next on your list to try. 2x 1 kg bags - prawns already peeled and deveined (tails left on) 🍤🍤🍤. Amazing value at $39/kg, straight from Pyrmont Seafoods at the fish market. Tonight was dumpling night, served with boiled rice and stir fried Choi Sum and spinach.
