BREAKING: Only about 70 reproductive female North Atlantic right whales remain in our ocean today as the species struggles to survive amidst human interactions such as entanglement and vessel collisions. This stress is compounded by the effects of climate change and is a likely factor in the decline in the frequency of right whale births. Instead of every 3 years, right whales are now giving birth every 7 to 10 years.

Many calves never make it to adulthood. It takes 10 years for females to mature to reproductive age, and once they do, they're faced with a lengthy pregnancy and a slim chance of their calves surviving. The consequences of this trend are devastating; females are essential for the long-term survival of the species.

Loud and unexpected fireworks displays will distress and disorient local fauna, potentially causing them to behave erratically. Examples of this includes birds fleeing their nests and leaving their chicks behind, or animals like possums and kangaroos running onto busy motorways or people's backyards.
