🎆 New Year’s Eve is almost here 🎆

While we might love the celebrations, fireworks can be frightening and stressful for pets. A little preparation can make a big difference.

Top tips to keep your pets safe this New Year’s:
🐾 Keep pets indoors and away from loud noise
🐾 Create a quiet, secure space with familiar bedding
🐾 Close windows, doors and curtains to reduce noise and flashes
🐾 Play soft music or white noise to help mask fireworks
🐾 Make sure pets are microchipped and wearing ID
🐾 Stay calm — pets pick up on our stress too
For pets that struggle each year, we can also organise calming medication or anxiety support plans to help them through the night.

⏰ Consider booking in before New Year’s Eve, as appointments can book out quickly.

If you’re unsure what your pet might need, our team is happy to help.

⏰ Today’s the day!

Dr Sam and the Celestial team are doing it again.

Today marks the start of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, and once again, the race is being used to shine a spotlight on an incredible cause.

In the lead-up to the race, Today featured Sam and the amazing dogs from Assistance Dogs Australia, helping raise awareness for the life-changing work they do across Australia.

Earlier this year, Sydney Animal Hospitals proudly raised $10,500 for Assistance Dogs Australia through our Lump Amnesty campaign — supporting the training of assistance dogs for Australians living with disability.

In the spirit of Christmas, we encourage you to check out their work and consider supporting them if you’re able ❤️

Best of luck to everyone taking part today — enjoy the race and sail safely! 🎄⛵️

We love a festive moment — but your pet’s comfort comes first 🐾

Our wonderful Dr Zoe Pimlott reminds pet owners that costumes can sometimes hide important body language or cause stress, overheating, or injury.

If your pet isn’t loving it, that’s okay! A cute collar, bandana, or no outfit at all is perfectly fine 💙

It might only last a few seconds, but some pet owners might not be aware of the damage they're doing.

🎄✨ Christmas is coming and the festive fun has officially started around the clinic!
From Christmas hats to wagging tails, our pets and team are getting into the spirit ❤️🐶🐱
A little holiday reminder for our pet parents:
✔️ Please make sure you’ve ordered any medications your pet will need over the Christmas and New Year period
✔️ Wholesalers and compounding pharmacies close over the holidays, so last-minute refills may be delayed
✔️ Book appointments early if you need anything before the break
The good news? We’re open through the holidays and here for you and your pets — just with limited supplier availability, so planning ahead really helps 🐾
And a few festive safety tips:
🎁 Keep tinsel, decorations and wrapping out of reach
🍗 No sneaky table scraps (especially bones, chocolate & onions!)
🌞 Keep pets cool and hydrated during summer celebrations
Let’s keep the festive season safe, happy and full of wagging tails 🎅🐾

A very special little visitor popped into our Avalon clinic 🐦💚

This baby kookaburra was brought in after being found and was given a full health check by our Dr Nickala and Nurse Bianca. The little cutie even posed for a selfie. Thankfully, everything looked good and the little one was safely transferred to WIRES, who will continue their care and make sure they’re given the best chance before being released back into the wild.
