First group line up of 2023 and the perfect opportunity to introduce Tristan!

Tristan is our new (since 2022) Eastside Dogs pack walker and is already SUCH an asset the the team - I’m sure you’ve seen the videos of him seamlessly walking a pack of 4, 6, or 8. He’s calm, assertive, loves the dogs, and they absolutely love him.

Having a great team who you can implicitly trust is so so important for any business, but especially when dealing with precious cargo like these furry babies.

Trip of a lifetime with my boys 🥹

I couldn’t be more thankful for the training I’ve worked so hard on to make a trip like this possible.

From crate training which helped them stay calm and happy on the flight, to the clear understanding of “place” while we cook meat on a low fire. Their perfect impulse control to stop themselves from chasing kangaroo’s, their love for the car, perfect recall to bring them back to me at our campsite or on a hike, “leave it” and muzzle training to protect them from 1080 fox bait poison, and perfect leash walking when we stop through caravan parks or busy areas. All of these seemingly simple tasks that we practice day in and day out that have become life saving skills on trips like this. These skills weren’t learned over night, this is years of repetitive, consistent, and boring training, over and over again, every day.

If there’s any incentive for my clients to work on their relationship with their dog, it’s a holiday like this. I’m so glad that I have good dogs that I can travel with. I’m so happy that they trust me enough to stay close to me in unfamiliar places, and they respect me enough to listen to any command I give them. The rules, boundaries, and limitations I put in place aren’t to have more control over them, it’s to give them more freedom to see the world.

There’s nothing in this world that I love more than dogs. I hope for everyone in the world to experience the same love and joy my dogs bring me… Oh how different the world would be.

To honour your dog, live like them. Be grateful, non judgemental, and loyal. Don’t act with malice or spite, and for gods sake, take them for a walk! Don’t just cuddle them on the couch, or sit inside and watch TV; take them to where they really want to be - outside in nature.
