How do we train a puppy to be on a table or stay so still while grooming ? We start at a young age with loads of praise for laying down which comes naturally as they get tired so quickly! Using a chin pillow makes grooming far more comfortable and easy on the dogs head and neck and they actually learn to love their pillow !
Grooming on a table also makes it far easier for puppies to stay still and understand what is expected of them! Practicing brushing your dog early as a puppy can even make visits to the groomer far less stressful for your pup ! You can use some rubber matting or yoga mat to make a non slip topper for any bbq table, desk, washing machine etc .

Teaching Arabella the seesaw. We started just by having a flat plank on the ground and learning to walk along it, turn on it, sit and drop on it, play tug games at the end of it โฆ run on it etc all to build confidence on the flat!
I now have my seesaw wedged under a chair at one end so that the height isnโt too difficult.
Iโm getting Arabella to jump on the finishing section 1st so she learns confidence at the end and comes to terms with the bang sound the seesaw makes.
I will practice this from both sides. Sheโs also learning to remain in her โtwo and two OFFโ position which is required for competition.
She gets lots of treats and food as a reward for being in the correct position and for coping with the noise. I will slowly make the challenge harder by moving the chairs slightly โฆ the base of the seesaw will be further off the ground by increments and will get louder as it drops.

1st ๐ฅ PLACE JDX 300 at The Nationals todayโฆ. It was a bit messy (I found out number 7 was a backside while I was going into the Shute lining up to run! Nevertheless we had a clear run , qualification , best course time and qualified for the finals at The Nationals !
