Field+Fin is a latest project of Daz Byrne. An urban farm and fire kitchen in Marrickville, it is an on the ground and larger version of the infamous Rooftop. The Rooftop is a private studio and home in Marrickville with a beautiful roof top garden full of food and aquaponics ponds. Below the rooftop gardens is the studio space and home of Daz Byr

ne. Both the Farm and Rooftop are located right in the heart of this vibrant suburb, where friends can come together and access some truly special experiences, meet new people, share stories, workshops and build community.

It’s Friday, it’s sunny, we are outside in a garden and we have some more feasts and beats for you to enjoy. D-Funk is back tonight at Field and Fin spinning vinyl. The Sydney based DJ & producer that has released music on labels such as Jalapeno Records, BombStrikes, Centrl Music, That’s Not An Edit, Sunday Best & more. He has played at Ministry Of Sound (London), Space & Hi (Ibiza) as well as residencies at The World Bar, Goros, The Foxtrot, The Standard & Middle Bar, The Clock Hotel and for Universal Music, SXSW, AmEx, Sydney Cricket Ground & Ted X. He runs the independent funk label Grits N Gravy & has remixes artists such as The Dub Pistols & The Baker Brothers.

Ma and Pa Field and Fin. 60 years together today. ❤️❤️❤️ still dating and laughing and being pretty cool. All my childhood I spent time in the kitchen, while my folks cooked and entertained for people. Growing up in the bush in the hills of Perth, we used to heat our hot water by our potbelly, fire jaffles were a common dinner and many trips away as a family were to remote REMOTE locations to camp and cook on a fire. you can see where my inspiration came from. You inspired me to build gardens and beautiful spaces, introduced me to the underwater world and photography that have been my passions for over 35 years. I fell in love with rain on the roof and music (Neil diamond) blaring out over speakers. Flowers and bugs and snakes and all things nature. That’s because of me ma an pa, still planting flowers till this day. Thanks. ❤️

Bringing the bush to the city

The rooftop is the home and private studio of Daryl (Daz) Byrne and his business “Field and Fin”, located in Marrickville NSW. For over 10 years Daz has opened this space to community and like minded people for pop up dinners, exhibitions, talk nights, workshops, music nights and private events.

With wonderful rooftop gardens and great views spread over three levels, Daz has worked to create a space that will connect a community of like minded people, allowing them to host or share in private events, tucked out of the buzz of the city yet still within the city.

A bunch of talented chefs, musicians and artists frequent the studio and help to create unique nights of delicious food and great music and art whilst supporting an inclusive and connective experience for all who visit the private and warm home environment.

When not hosting events and pop up dinners Daz uses the studio to showcase his green space installations and to hold information nights about his Papua New Guinea Eco lodge project. Located out in the coral sea of PNG, Daz has leased 5 small islands on 20km of reef, on top of a reef wall that drops to over a kilometre deep. Here he runs remote eco camp trips that support local community and put children in to school whilst protecting one of the truely last untouched wildernesses in the world.
