Field+Fin is a latest project of Daz Byrne. An urban farm and fire kitchen in Marrickville, it is an on the ground and larger version of the infamous Rooftop. The Rooftop is a private studio and home in Marrickville with a beautiful roof top garden full of food and aquaponics ponds. Below the rooftop gardens is the studio space and home of Daz Byr

ne. Both the Farm and Rooftop are located right in the heart of this vibrant suburb, where friends can come together and access some truly special experiences, meet new people, share stories, workshops and build community.

Over winter we are open on Saturday evenings for dinner. Come snuggle in under the heaters and eat some good hearty fire cooked foods with our lovely in house pickles incorporated into many of our dishes.

We had another great field trip this week with one of our super supportive schools. Their year 8’s are doing lots of learning on circular economy and sustainability and it was a real pleasure to share in what we do with the 50 plus students and staff. The day involved talks from Daz about his Papua New Guinea conservation project, as well as lessons in mushroom growing and aquaponics. There were fresh pizzas cooked in our fire oven topped with our produce and planting of plants in our aquaponics system, feeding of fish and yabbies. It was a lovely day had by all. Thanks

Well we didn’t expect that, it’s cold, I mean it is beautiful! But it is cold! We had a lovely bunch of crew come through tonight, we sold out of everything, had some great chats and the heaters worked a treat. Winter is a hard one, but your support to rug up and come and join us is much appreciated! More events to come over winter, sat nights open to public, but please please book!! We cook on fire, we prep days before so if we know you are coming we will cater for you. Plus zero waste is cool. And don’t forget subscribe to become a member on our website and we will invite you to members gigs, talks film nights, the list goes on. ❤️

We are back! After a bit of time away up in Papua and a little bit of hiding from the rain here in Sydney, we are back. From this weekend we will move in to our winter times which will include being open to the public on Saturdays and private invite events we will host on other days and nights. We will also be getting our membership running, free to be a base member, which will mean you will get invited to our events, gigs, talks and movie nights. Also, don’t forget to hit us up to host your private weddings, parties anything. Nice to be back, look forward to sharing stories about our recent visit to our conservation project. ❤️

Bringing the bush to the city

The rooftop is the home and private studio of Daryl (Daz) Byrne and his business “Field and Fin”, located in Marrickville NSW. For over 10 years Daz has opened this space to community and like minded people for pop up dinners, exhibitions, talk nights, workshops, music nights and private events.

With wonderful rooftop gardens and great views spread over three levels, Daz has worked to create a space that will connect a community of like minded people, allowing them to host or share in private events, tucked out of the buzz of the city yet still within the city.

A bunch of talented chefs, musicians and artists frequent the studio and help to create unique nights of delicious food and great music and art whilst supporting an inclusive and connective experience for all who visit the private and warm home environment.

When not hosting events and pop up dinners Daz uses the studio to showcase his green space installations and to hold information nights about his Papua New Guinea Eco lodge project. Located out in the coral sea of PNG, Daz has leased 5 small islands on 20km of reef, on top of a reef wall that drops to over a kilometre deep. Here he runs remote eco camp trips that support local community and put children in to school whilst protecting one of the truely last untouched wildernesses in the world.
