The Master Sweeper is back for School Camp.
This s***k has hit the ground as if he never left, for which I am thrilled.
We will be continuing chasing that clear mind and better decision making capacity through play, training and management.
Welcome back handsomepants! 😍
Ralph hasn’t wasted any time making friends
Holly is for adoption with .rescue.australia. She’s the sweetest girl who embraces life. Holly is looking for a single dog home. Shes an athletic girl who throws herself into anything that has been asked of her. Travels like a dream. Settles easily inside. A joy to have around.
ZaaZoo is available for adoption with Zaz is a workhorse who just loves the doing of the things… any of the things. Would live in the car if he was allowed. Loves his creature comforts. A guy who makes you laugh often.
Baloo… you can’t have him… he’s mine 😜🤣 My guy who has come SO far since he first arrived ❤️🔥
Check out this stunner 😍
Welcome to Basecamp, 6 month old, Golden Retriever, Ralph!
In between bombing around with new friends, Ralph will be polishing up on his life skills during his stay.
Arousal levels are a bit of a competitor, so we’ll be channeling that enthusiasm into more productive avenues through games, training and management.
His people have been doing a bunch of lovely work already. Our job is to keep that moving in the right direction.
Bill is starting to feel a bit happier about life. 🤩

Hometime for Cavill and Ferdi today.
Cav totally knows the lay of the land these days, his remembering of the space and functional obedience mean that he pretty much hits the floor running these days.
Ferdi would likely give 1⭐️for his Basecamp visit. We were far more Rehab than Health Retreat. Outside of his friends, Ferds had a pretty hard time in a place that couldn’t just live around and cater to him. He’s gone home with some homework 😉
Until next time boys 😘😘
Hometime for the Fuzzmeister.
The big guy has been busy looking handsome, remembering his training and channeling those squirrels.
See you next time handsomepants 🖤
Handsome Cavill is also back for a little bit.
Now a capable, much more clear minded pooch, it’s a joy having this guy stay.
I find it thrilling to be able to offer him space and freedom.
Free of the limitations of lead and our slow human pace… Off lead exploring is his most favourite thing to do here.
Something that was entirely unachievable when we first met.
His ability to resist his squirrels also means he has a much more full life at home too. Team Cavill’s progress and updates make my heart explode with joy for them.
Welcome back big guy. 🥰
Welcome to our newest .rescue.australia recruit, Bill.
Bill is currently finding his life change a rather overwhelming affair.
We are taking things slowly, applying as little pressure as possible, helping him bring his head back above water until he realises life is actually ok.
Having the farm is such a blessing. The space allows us to just wander, breathe more deeply, engage in the world and lift our head higher.
We got you, handsome.
A very rushed, windy, lineup for Sweep’s departure.
I nearly forgot to do one 😱
Sweeps is a high maintenance kinda guy, who has some ocd tendencies that cause him to self destruct in standard kennel environments. I’m thrilled to be able to provide him a space where he can find some zen and clear his mind.
He’s done super well this visit. See you again soon handsomepants ❤️🔥
Not bad coffee company this morning 🥰
See you all in Sydney!!
Baloo is definitely a smell the flowers kinda guy.
Oz is more the go fast, busy Beaver, kinda guy.
The great news is that Oreo seems to have finally run his layers of frustration out of his system. It’s a joy to see him take in and engage with the world in a much more clear minded, curios fashion. The first time he rolled in the grass with sheer pleasure almost brought tears to my eyes.
The one and only Penelope Pork Chop is 14 years young today!
She has had a wonderful day filled with pats, adoration, a car trip and running around hoarsely yelling at Charlie playing fetch (her favourite lol).
Thanks for all that you are, Tart Bag. You’re one in a gazillion. ❤️🔥

The Butterball has had a growth spurt! 😍
Young Buffy is almost 7 months old and developing into a beautiful girl.
She’s considering herself miss popularity and having some unhelpful views on wanting to say hi to everyone. Surely they are there just for her… surely!
We worked through a variety of impulse control scenarios, worked on some other personal development skills and raised the bar in our obedience expectations with Madam pre-teen.
Buffs was snoring in the backseat before they even put the car in gear. 🤣❤️🔥
Hometime for Arlo.
This pic is a true representation of the butterball’s sense of humour… yes Arlo, I did ask you to drop 🙄🤣
Arlo is going home with added skills and self control which will help Team Arlo continue on the PAT assessment path.
The poor guy seems to have the metabolism of a sumo wrestler… he’s been on a pretty darn strict diet and has only managed to drop 1kg. 🥴 Penny feels your pain, bud.
I’m thrilled that the team are back together and cannot wait to help them kick some goals.
It’s very hard to take a bad photo of the Füzzmeister ❤️🔥
Arlo and Oreo have become such good mates.
Both have a very similar play style, without taking each other too seriously.
It took at least a week, potentially more, for Oreo to run his pent up frustrations out of his system. He’s still a fair bit of dog, but one that is now far more present. It’s nice seeing Oreo become more engaged in life, instead of his developing ocd type tendencies causing him to internalise.
Arlo is getting his steps in chasing after his supercharged friend. Very helpful for the dropping of weight.
Aren’t they the cutest duo!
11 month old French Bulldog, Tilly, has hit Basecamp due to some unhelpful behaviour occurring when out on walks.
The sweet girl can be a bit unsure and has learned that the best offence is a good defence.
Tilly lives a pretty charmed life, where she has everything in the world that she could want. she is lived around and catered to.
There is a lot of love and adoration, but without the partnership and training that we need to help her bring her head back above water.
I liken a lot of my clients to the really wealthy kids… they have everything they could ever want, except that which money can’t buy… our time. Quality time! Giving our full attention. Teaching. Listening. Giving in a more wholesome way.
Tilly’s lifestyle is about to become Bootcamp and Health Spa.
No more is kibble just going to be left out, to graze at at her whim. A more fresh approach, where she works for her food is now on the menu.
See working/training is actually that quality time that money can’t buy. It’s like teaching/listening to our child read or play an instrument… doing craft with our child… hitting the sports field with our child. The special stuff.
We are working on building a partnership/team with Tilly and her people. That they are actually worth looking to for guidance. Building a communication system where we can help her keep her head above water instead of lashing out.
Training is the special sauce that enables the dog to feel happier in their skin. The work has drained the gas tank, built value in us, developed a less frustrated, more fulfilled dog…
Of course we must advocate for her and resist playing Russian Roulette by putting her in situations that she’s increasingly telling us that she doesn’t appreciate.
And then, when we are all on the same page, we bring the two together.
Füzzy has been working on his goatie since his last visit
Welcome back big guy 🥰🖤
Proof that dogs are magical and worth their weight in gold… given Arlo’s current waistline, that’s a lot!
🤣💛
Three new high maintenance dogs arriving in almost as many days makes for a pretty busy time at Basecamp.
All three boys struggle with that off switch.
There’s some separation stuff in there too.
The only way a dog can learn to do nothing, is to actually do nothing!
Crates are an enormous asset for so many reasons.
One of them is that they allow me to provide a familiar environment to new arrivals in what is otherwise a stressful situation.
They allow me to keep dogs and my place safe and in one piece. They allow me to include everyone, assuming that is suitable for the individual.
They allow me to teach dogs about missing out in the safest and fairest way possible.
Until today, I’ve been on farm while the boys have been learning about missing out.
Today was my first trip into town with them staying behind.
Every time I checked the cameras I saw nothing other than sleeping dogs. Hearing nothing other than the radio and snoring.
I’m sure people wondered about my grin and perhaps wanted in on the joke.
This ain’t no joke. This is clear, peaceful minds. This is independence. This is resilience. This is balance.
There’s a few other names I can call this place, depending on the personalities visiting… things like Health Retreat, Rehab, Bootcamp… perhaps a place where a dog can grow into the best version of themselves.
The peace in the house allows all of us to breathe a bit more deeply again. Hopefully the newbies continue to embrace the zen side of life.
Well done boys!
10mth old Labrador, Arlo, has hit Basecamp for a few weeks.
Arlo and his person have plans of passing their Public Access Test, with Arlo to become his persons service dog.
Arlo can be a fairly rambunctious young man, so he’s busy learning about self control, impulse control, commitment to task.
His enthusiasm in life can also tip him over into a some frustrated behaviour when out and about.
He’s a fun loving guy who is enjoying the space and new friends.
This guy kinda has fun just breathing 🤣
Oreo (Oz) and his ears hit Basecamp last weekend.
This handsome guy is a poundie sprung by
Oz had started to develop some unhelpful OCD type behaviours that smart, underwhelmed dogs can generate for themselves when languishing in a kennel block.
Oz has basically spent the last week running all his pent up frustrations out. His other nickname is Forrest… whenever he has the off lead freedom, he just runs.
He makes me think of Charlie, post injury, once he was allowed freedom. That boy ran for three days before his red cordial filled squirrels found some peace.
Other than running, Oreo and I are getting to know each other. He’s leaning some house rules and telling me what he knows.
Once we are teammates, I’m excited to show him how he can put those scattered smart squirrels to work. To channel them into his training. How much fun school can be.
Stick with me kiddo. We got this.
A very rushed squad shot for Frankie’s hometime.
The Frankster is always a joy to have visit. Slots straight in. Makes friends everywhere she goes. Lover of fun.
Until next time sweet pea! 🖤

Ferdi hit Basecamp for a long weekend. Some might remember Ferds visiting us as a fosterdog when we lived up North. The handsome guy found it all pretty darn stressful, however he did manage to remember old friends and make new ones. I do love catching up with those who have visited CC previously 🥰❤️🔥 #welcomeback #rescuedog #staffyx #farmstay #actrescueandfoster #caninecompass @actrescueandfoster

There’s something very satisfying about watching dogs settle and enjoy a chew together. Maybe it’s the proof that all the work is worth it. It took a long time for me to try nylabones. They just seemed so weird to me. Why would I ask them to chew plastic?!… and then I realised any enrichment toy is synthetic 🙄💡#duh A few very sensitive tummies visiting at the same time and an order of very (too) brittle cow hooves caused me to give them a try. I’m finding them a perfect option for those sensitive tummies, but also enrichment that isn’t crazy high in value. This means that working on settling and minding your own business can be achieved more easily. The rules of this game are simply… 👉 Settle and mind your own business. 👉 What your friend has is of no concern to you. 👉 No sniffing across to see what they have. No trying to steal each others chew. When working with any resource, care and consideration must be taken to ensure we are setting our dogs up to succeed. Prior to this, these kids have worked on a bunch of impulse control and communication tasks, which including bed/place and leave it. Initially, leads are on dogs to allow easier control of the situation, sometimes backhoes are used. Just two dogs to start with. Obviously our dog is the one who determines whether a resource is valuable, and the level of that value. We always need to listen to the information they give us, meet them where they are at and then move forward from there. Thanks for the smiles and company with my morning coffee kiddos. #timesandplaces #houserules #boundaries #manners #quiettime #settle #mindyourbusiness #notyourbusiness #labrador #staffyx #bordercollie #friends #farmstay #caninecompass #labradorresccueaustralia @labrador.rescue.australia

Decompression Walk musings… the fine line between a capable clear minded, attentive dog and an anxious, needy, high maintenance dog and how our ego can get in the way of
Cav’s been working hard on clearing his mind and steadying that twisted sense of humour. With trust comes freedom. It’s thrilling to be able to provide the freedom he and his team so richly deserve. 🤩
P̳h̳o̳n̳e̳ Stand l̳i̳f̳e̳ h̳a̳c̳k̳ Ever wish you had a tripod for your phone?? Here’s an easy hack where you can make a stand out of many, many things! Happy training! #lifehack #phonehack #nomoreexcuses #trainyourdog #havefunwithyourdog #caninecompass
Everything. Literally everything. About Polly’s development has been about attitude and empowerment. I want to see joy. I want to see enthusiasm. The love of the doing the thing, whatever the thing might be. The fact that Polly is joyous working in town makes my soul sing. My heart explode. She’s still Polly. She’s still limited. But I just love that she’s willingly smashing those molehills. And I’m honoured that she trusts me enough to smash them with me. #boerboel #rescuedog #fosterdog #attitudeiseverything #actrescueandfoster #caninecompass @actrescueandfoster
When a ‘Santa clause’ flies through your training time it stands no chance 🤣 I didn’t realise that Pops had caught the thing until I saw it squished in her mouth. The flip side to the coin - The off switch Everyone focusses on wearing these guys out. It’s all go, go, go. But what about when it’s time to stop?! We’ve been chasing sheep this morning. Now it’s time to switch off. To realise that shop is now shut. Your mind and body have been worked. Let’s now settle your mind and body. Calm. It’s a big challenge for Sweep. His biggest mountain to climb. Work and run are easy. Let’s go! Stop???? Why should I? Because it’s just as important as the work! A constant adrenalised state is not healthy. But also, if our dog is constantly rehearsing reflexivity, how on earth will they be able to practice self control when we need them to??? #balance #offswitch #chasingzen #clearmind #bordercollie #caninecompass #farmstay
A bunch of Arlo’s training is currently body awareness and learning to try. Those boxes and the buckets were entirely weird a week ago. No I can’t get him off them. ❤️🔥 Body awareness is a priority of mine generally, however Arlo’s foster carer reaaaallly struggled to even get him to sit. Pain is something that always springs to mind at these times. However, Arlo is also very gangly and all over the place still, so I wanted to see what his body would tell me when he was asked to slow down, be mindful and try new things. Nothing has been forced here. Just obstacles ‘thrown in the way’ and food and a lead to help him realise what his body could do. I can’t get enough of that tail 🥰 ***************************** When he is ready, Arlo will be available for adoption with @labrador.rescue.australia #labrador #fosterdog #rescuedog #fosterdog #learningtotry #bodyawareness #slowingthesquirrels #engagingthecogs #aligningplanets #labradorrescueaustralia #caninecompass
Biscuits turns ONE today!!! 🥳It’s also hometime for her tomorrow. It’s always so nice to see her embrace the space and friends here. Car and town trips are most definitely still a work in progress. Other confidence building exercises and games will keeep her moving forward without forcing her to confront her demons all the time. Until next time sweetness 🤩#happybirthday #staffordshirebullterrier #fearfuldog #hometime #farmstay #caninecompass
