Poor Croc… Hoping it’s not going to now be terrorised. Anyone else see the pattern with our wildlife strategies? We create the negative change and impact, the animals adapt as they are amazing at doing that, it then inconveniences part of society and then it’s apparently their fault and they pay our consequences. Plain example is the dingoes on K’gari/Fraser Island, but there is so many species we have caused problems for and continue to do so!
There is not an over population of crocs as people may say, that is the biggest load of flies. Go see for yourself in FNQ.
And like previously stated, it’s nothing new. We get the odd crocodile down here every now and again. They’ve been here long before us and they adapt better than we ever will. I hope humanity finds a balance very soon because if we continue the way we are, we will have nothing left to enjoy of the beautiful places we live and the wildlife we share it with.
⚠️ Crocodile Sighting at Inskip Point⚠️
Wildlife officers are investigating after an estimated two-metre crocodile was seen on the beach near the Sarawak camping area at Inskip Point (near Rainbow Beach).
A ranger saw the croc on the beach and photographed the tracks and markings (pictured). Wildlife officers are now conducting patrols and using drones to locate the animal.
People in the area are strongly urged to remain vigilant around the water:
👉 Stay away from the water’s edge
👉 Supervise children and pets closely:
👉 Use an esky or a similar object as a barrier between you and the water
Wildlife officers will be notifying people in camping areas near Inskip Point and install recent crocodile sight warning signs. 🗣
The animal is likely to be the same crocodile recently videoed on Coonarr Beach, near Bundaberg.
Crocodile sightings can be reported by using the QWildlife app, completing a crocodile sighting report on the DETSI website: https://environment.desi.qld.gov.au/wildlife/animals/living-with/crocodiles/report-crocodile or by calling 1300 130 372. The department investigates every crocodile sighting report received.
