We are back!!
Thank you to all my beautiful clients for being patient with us while we adjust to life with a newborn & for all the lovely messages we received.
Just letting you all know that we are now taking boarders again. Look forward to getting all my doggy cuddles in π
We have a full house this weekend with Home Away From Home regulars Harry & Gypsy & Rusty the walrus/sausage who I have missed so much from seeing at daycare weekly π

Hardie Moon Schiemer π©΅
Hello my lovely Home Away From Home family.
He has arrived!!
Hardie was born on Saturday the 30th December at 1.37 pm.
His birth did not go as expected, born by emergency ceaserian which was all very frightening at the time but he is healthy & absolutely perfect.
We are still in hospital currently but looking forward to getting home soon & introducing him to all your fur babies ππΆ

My final week at work was cut short this week. Instead of finishing tomorrow to go on Maternity leave it ended yesterday due to testing positive to covid π°
I have had these 2 adorable fur kid's to snuggle up to & help me get through.
Ralphy & Chloe are cheeky & full of personality.
This week is also my final week taking any boarding babies this year. I will keep you all posted regarding the birth & when I will be back after bub arrives.
I want to thank you all for your support over the year & hope you all have a safe & wonderful holiday season ππ

She is such a gorgeous little girl π

Brother & Sister duo
Sweet Susie & Sassy Sam. These 2 have been regulars since I started Home Away From Home.
They are so different from each other. Susie is so relaxed & affectionate. Sam is a little more snappy & sassy but we love them equally π₯°

Preston was very nervous to start with but he became besties with Zed in no time & was snuggled up to us on the couch at every opportunity ππ§‘π©΅

It's been a little while since we had Miss Daisy stay with us. She is alway's such a snuggle bug. Making use of the baby bump too π π

Some of you may remember around the same time last year, I was walking Zed at Loam Island and found this beautiful girl who had been dumped.
I fostered her for a few weeks while trying to locate her owner's & when I couldn't locate them, I started trying to find her a forever home.
She was super blessed & was adopted by the most amazing family π₯Ήπ₯Ίπ₯Ή
It makes my heart so happy.
This is Chloe & 1 year later she has come back for a little stay & it is pretty safe to say Zed remembers her fondly π₯°

Harry & Gypsy
Aka: Humphrey & Gretel or Harry the Humper π
These 2 cuties are Home Away From Home regulars with a few quirks that need to be managed daily.
Both babies are on daily medication & because of Harry's steriods he is absolutely obsessed with food π¬ he will go to great lengths to sniff it out & break into anything that remotely smells edible π
π
He has been known to eat raw potatoes, whole packs of hot cross buns, the entire contents of the bin & well you get the picture.
If he isn't sourcing food he is usually trying to hump Zed or giving us his best air hump π€¦ββοΈ
Harry's hips don't lie.
Gypsy is so sweet & funny & playful but unfortunately she had a run in with 2 dog's (off lead) that frightened her & her lead got tangled on her back leg & caused some damage. It has improved lot's but she is still not 100%.
They both love their big friend Zed & even got to come on an adventure to the office on Monday ππ©΅π

Looks like I am going to be very out numbered at home now.
Zed is getting a little brother & I will have 3 guy's at home with me soon π©΅π

Good Morning my beautiful Home Away From Home family.
I just wanted to jump in here & apologise for my lack of activity lately, it has been a CRAZY few month's for me π€ͺ
Firstly as you can see from the 1st picture I have been growing something pretty special for the last 3 month's π€°π«π€± the pregnancy left me feeling absolutely horrendous every single day for about 6 week's but luckily I seem to be over the worst of it now & my low bp, nausea & exhaustion seem to have passedπ€
My partner & I also have been away visiting family in Brisbane & Melbourne & celebrating our expected arrival aswell as my birthday & only just arrived back on Monday.
And while most expectant mother's are usually thinking about winding down from their work at this time, I was offered an AMAZING brand new position with the RSPCA's Outreach Team here in Townsville as their primary Education Officer. When I applied for the role I didn't know I was pregnant so it has been very overwhelming at time's but so far the RSPCA & our tiny team have been incredibly supportive π
The role & the work we are doing as a team is really exciting & important & something I am extremely passionate about.
Having been in the animal industry for most of my adult life including 12 year's as a Veterinary Nurse, having the opportunity to not only be a part of but also help create the programs we will be using to educate the community on animal welfare to me is pretty much a dream.
My role as the primary educator will include lot's of school & early learning centre visits, community outreach & event's & will involve some travel (like to regional/rural indigenous area's)
So what does this look like for Home Away From Home in the future??
Well moving forward I fly out to Wacol RSPCA in Brisbane on Monday for 3 week's training. I will be back mid July & it will be bookings as usual up until about December 10 - 15th (I am due December 28th) & then have the rest of December & January off.
My intention is to resume boarding after this with my REGULAR clients only for a while & I will continually update you all through Facebook of any changes.
I actually have no idea how I am going to juggle it all but I am very grateful to have a supportive partner & some amazing people here & as I mentioned so far the RSPCA have been wonderful.
Thank you all for your patience & your kindness throughout this year & this exciting time β€οΈπ©·π§‘πΆππβπ¦Ί
