To all my beautiful customers and friends, I wanted to let you all know that I have had covid, with a chest infection on top. Turns out that the chest infection is pneumonia, and I also have some problems with my wisdom tooth, that will need to be extracted as soon as possible.
Your loyalty and patience during this difficult time has been truly inspiring to me and I just wanted to say thank you to you all. I hope to see you all soon and I'm missing all my fur babies very much.

✂️FOUR MYTHS 🐾 about pet grooming 🛁

●Myth #1: "You have such a cool job and I wish I got to play with puppies all day"
•••> While my job IS still cooler than yours 🥰 it IS still a JOB and we DO frequently:
○get bit/ scratched, p**ped/peed on
○feel frustrated or discouraged, esp when new puppy parents have unrealistic expectations
○ receive complaints (usually resulting in some form of free work via threat of a bad review)
○have to do things we don't wanna (like clean up that diarrhea explosion this nervous pup just left in the crate and up the wall)
○SO MUCH CLEANING of our tools and workspace
○spend all day on our feet and half of it bent over a tub while we are wet, hairy & itchy, and sometimes smelly (try going grocery shopping after doing this all day and you get some funny looks but at least ppl leave you alone)
○we spend a big chunk of our paychecks on maintaining our equipment so hear me when I say we EARNED that puppy tax of snuggles and squishes 😁
♡yes our JOB IS awesome 👌 but not 100% of the time- Its just those small heartfelt moments drown out the negative ones and keep us going and doing what we do with a smile on our face every day. You HAVE TO have a positive attitude while you are working because every dog on your table is a tiny sponge and they will absorb whatever energy you bring them. We just make it LOOK easy 💯 because we love what we do.

●Myth #2: "pet grooming is a low-income entry-level job"
•••> this career can take years to learn and a lifetime to master. You might not make much during your training but once you find your routine and speed (usually by year 2) most pet groomers I know make over $20 an hour after commission and tips. Sure, We have our butts handed to us in the process- and spend lots of money sharpening our equipment (and at the chiropractor) but this career field has an incredibly high demand and very few people willing to put in the hard work (or expense) to learn how to do it. Some of us spent thousands on classes or professional schooling, others may have done apprenticeship with a small business making minimum wage until their training was complete- but no matter which route was taken you can guarantee a sacrifice was made to call ourselves pet groomer: Our equipment is expensive and our skills are specialized. The physical labor and daily repetitive motions causes premature arthritis and long-term joint damage in our bodies. Unruly dogs break our equipment and sometimes hurt us. Still, We love what we do, and if love paid the bills you know I would work for free!

●Myth #3: " pet grooming shouldn't cost more than my own hair appointment"
•••> you sit still for your stylist and I really shouldn't have to explain much beyond that but I will. Your stylist does not scrub you down/trim you from head to toe. Also, you do not have six weeks or more of filth, Grime and oil in your hair. She doesn't have to pick p**p crumbles off your butt or argue about getting the boogies out of your eyes. Trimming your bangs does not feel like an Olympic event. Your haircut does not include a pedicure or ear cleaning. She does not have to put you in a headlock to brush your teeth because your breath stinks so bad it's making her pass out. You don't make attempts to hump, bite, or scratch your stylist. You don't sling shampoo and water from one end of the salon to the other when she's rinsing you. You don't scream at the other clients. Your stylist does not have to enlist someone to feed you peanut butter so that you will focus and be still for your pedicure. I think you get the point, that I would very much like to stop comparing apples and oranges.

●Myth #4: " a haircut should be cheaper if I wash them myself"
•••> honestly, I wish this could be true because I really hate it when my clothes get wet. But really what gives our haircuts that nice, professional look is the way we straighten the hair as we blow dry it. Our high velocity blow dryers are nothing like your Con Air under the bathroom sink. It's a real struggle to get a nice even haircut when the fur dries weird and colicky. Our professional shampoos are designed to compliment different coat textures, and provide a deep cleaning. Missing just one piece of dirt during the scrub down can cause irreversible damage to our very expensive shears, and I mean most of them are between $200 and $500 each so it's hard to risk chipping your equipment by having them washed at home, without professional supplies or knowledge. ( a chip in the blade means the sharpener has to hone the shear down past that break and this often shortens the lifespan of our equipment by many years)
