Mamu and I started working on some grooming handling yesterday! We have been working on general handling since we started training but yesterday we zoned in on grooming specifically!

This girl has turned out to be one of my absolute favourite cases I’ve worked with! ⭐️
Katie started with me probably just over 6 months ago and was reactive to everything: people, dogs, planes, trucks, you name it she’d react to it 😅
Now we are at a point in her training where she is able to have dogs run up to her at the beach or the park and have her ignore them! She even ignores dogs that are reacting to her 🤯
The interaction I had with this other owner and dog today was a reminder to myself that I don’t need to always panic and be in fight or flight mode when a dog approaches, (of course there a some dogs that aren’t going to cope with this) but Katie and I spend a lot of time training for this exact situation and it’s paying off 👏🏼🥳

My goal with Mamu is to expose her to as many weird and wonderful things as possible so that when it comes time for her to become a therapy dog she will be so use to all of my craziness that her day to day activities will be a breeze! 🍃
