Charlotte’s journey to HVAFARC began on a property where we’re helping over 50 cats. During one of our weekly desexing intakes, an unexpected call from the vet revealed that Charlotte had a severely ulcerated eye needing urgent attention.
There was no hesitation—her health and happiness came first. Thanks to the incredible team at Unique Vets, Charlotte underwent surgery to not only be desexed but also to have her damaged eye removed, finally relieving her from months of pain.
This resilient girl is now healing wonderfully and is ready to find her purrever home! She has a heart full of love and is hoping to spend her first Christmas with a family who adores her as much as we do.

Our cat rescue mission is always ongoing — not only working on the mission of our 50+ felines from one property. Yesterday, we received an urgent call from an Upper Hunter ranger about 5 tiny kittens in desperate need. Their mother had tragically passed away on Sunday, and she wasn't discovered deceased until Monday. The owner was struggling to feed the little ones, who were starving and just 4 weeks old. They had been without any real sustenance for 3 days.
Our dedicated team jumped into action and rushed out last night to bring these babies to safety. After some much-needed mush and milk, they’re finally settling in and getting the care they deserve.

🚨 PROJECT 50+ CATS 🚨
Last Friday was a big day. We welcomed mums #3, #4, #5, and #6 into care, along with 22 innocent babies. Each one was flea-treated, checked for any health issues, and given the love they've desperately needed. Some had gunky eyes and other problems that will require continued care.
Heartbreakingly, among the newest arrivals, there were three frail babies, far smaller and weaker than their siblings. Despite our best efforts, one passed away during assessment, and the other two slipped away within hours of being brought into our care. We did everything we could to give them a fighting chance, but they were simply too weak to go on. 💔
Now, time is of the essence. We know that three more litters were born just last week. They urgently need space and resources to come into care, and we are working around the clock to make it happen.
The silver lining? Our friends at Unique Vets and Maitland Large Animals in Huntlee have joined this mission, offering a massive discount on the desexing procedures we desperately need. We plan to start desexing the males ASAP, but we need to raise $2,000 to cover the already discounted costs and ensure we can afford the essential medical treatment these precious cats and kittens will need.
This is a rescue mission like no other. It is intense. It is heartbreaking. And it is necessary. We can't do it alone, though. We need every single one of you to stand with us.
In the next four weeks, 29 kittens will need loving homes, followed by another 18 kittens soon after that. And it's not just the little ones – the adult mums and other cats from the property will also need committed, forever homes.
Together, we can make a life-changing difference for these cats. Let’s show them the love, safety, and care they deserve.

Our first litter of kittens from the "Project Over 50 Cats" rescue is settling into care beautifully, as you can see in this video. These babies are already thriving with love and attention. 🐱💕
But this is just the beginning! We’re expecting the next four mumma cats and their bubs to come into our care this morning. Stay tuned for more updates as we work around the clock to give these precious lives a second chance.

We're facing an unprecedented crisis in animal rescue. The flood of requests for assistance is overwhelming. Every day, our team is bombarded with emails, phone calls, DMs, and text messages from community members desperately seeking help to rehome their pets.
We're at a breaking point. Our rescue is not just full, but overflowing. We're stretched to our limits, trying to provide care for every animal in need.
Running a rescue is like managing a business, but with no guaranteed income. The bills keep piling up, and the financial strain is immense.
Our team is exhausted. Balancing their own jobs, families, and the demands of keeping our shelter running is taking its toll emotionally and physically.
But we can't give up. Not when the need is so great.
