Malamute x husky

3.5 years old. Not desexed

Greta is a very sweet dog who likes exercise but is also happy lounging around. She is unfortunately not suitable around small/medium dogs or children and just be walked on lead at all times (no off lead beach etc). She does have some separation anxiety like a lot of dogs but we feel this can be well managed in the right environment with training and medication if needed. She is not destructive and she enjoys company and being inside.

She needs a loving home as an only pet with plenty of attention, exercise and mental stimulation with an owner willing to work on some of her issues. She would make a great companion to the right person.

No foster homes or rescue groups sorry. Permanent home only.

Please message if you are able to give Greta a suitable home.

Dr Rachael is BACK on Bribie working 2-3 days a week following time off with her shoulder surgery.

Simba was certainly happy to see Dr Rachael for his check up and thought he would help her try the neck stretcher owned by mum Dym. Note: Reggie did not want to be in the photo!

Happy Christmas week everyone! Just wanted to make sure everyone has enough medications to make it through the holidays - this is the last call for us to order medication in so we can receive and get them delivered before the break.

We’ve had a few cases this last week of paralysis ticks - just a reminder to use prevention and to check over your pets after they have been outside.

Timely reminder to make sure you have your flea and tick prevention up to date - with the weather warming up, they will become far more active.
Paralysis is a deadly condition caused by the paralysis tick. It is identified by its grey body and its legs which are close to the head.
These ticks attach to the animal and feed on their blood, which in turn injections small amounts of the ticks saliva. This saliva is what contains the toxin that disrupts the connection between the nerves and the muscles causing weakness and paralysis.
A lot of animals effected require supportive care and hospitalisation.
Signs of tick paralysis:
- lack of coordination
- weakness
- collapse
- vomiting or retching
- change in voice (bark or meow)
- difficulty breathing

If you find a tick on your pet, you should remove it by using a tick remover or tweezers to detach it from the skin. Remove the tick gently by its head, without squeezing the body. Monitor for any symptoms mentioned above, and call your vets for further advise.
You can help prevent you pet getting a tick by making sure the preventatives are up to date and regularly searching pets thoroughly for ticks.
