It’s FRI - YAY ….. and little Lady my Chi- Cross wishes ya’ll the most beautiful weekend ♥️🐾♥️ full of love - laughter - blessings- and fun .

Many say small dogs are just an excuse for a dog - and often don’t realise that they have the same needs as a big dog.

Chihuahuas are special yet often misunderstood due to their small size. Their exceptional hearing, a result of their size, serves as a defense mechanism, making them alert and responsive. Despite their petite stature, Chihuahuas are surprisingly resilient and possess a strong work ethic. They excel in obedience training, enjoying the mental stimulation and structure it provides. Chihuahuas are fiercely loyal and form strong bonds with their owners. Their confident nature and big personalities make them stand out, showcasing that size does not define their capabilities or unique qualities.

Have a wonderful weekend

Speak less 🤭

Words can get lost in translation, but a gentle touch speaks volumes! Embrace the power of body language, special pressure, collar pressure, and release to connect with your furry friend on a deeper level. Let your actions guide the way in behavioural training – a pat, a reassuring hand on the back, or a gentle collar pressure to steer in the right direction. It's a dance of understanding and love, where words are unnecessary. Let your gestures do the talking and watch the bond between you and your pup grow stronger with every meaningful touch!

Clear body language fosters understanding and trust in dog behaviour / training. Signals help communicate effectively with your pup, reinforcing commands and building a strong bond based on non-verbal cues.

Little Bailey learns to target

Target training in dogs enhances communication, mental stimulation, and focus. It improves obedience, strengthens the human-animal bond, boosts confidence, and provides a constructive outlet for energy. Target training can also be used for agility, service work, and behavior modification.

Three simple tip on HOW to teach target training

🐾 1. Choose a target such as a stick / any stick will do

🐾 2. Present the target and reward the dog for touching or interacting with it.

🐾 3. Use positive reinforcement consistently and gradually shape the behavior to achieve more complex tasks, such as following the target or holding a position.

Max & Mum - carefree urban companion

Building resilience in a dog in an urban environment requires a gentle and gradual approach to prevent overwhelming the dog.

Flawlessly achieved by MUM ♥️

This is where pooch Positive ‘s personalized style of training stands out. We transfer the skill we practice in the home into the urban environment.
Skill : Going to a suburban coffee shop .
Firstly , Max was trained to use the red blanket as a command ‘ place’. He was trained the red blanket was his special place to sit , it was safe in the kitchen as it was on the side of the galley kitchen where his owner cooked a meal.

Later this was extended to where sat patiently and waited for all meals.

Once that was familiar, the training at home was transferred into the urban environment, so Max could accompany his owners to a coffee shop . The red blanket was the link and was taken to the shop and placed on the ground .
Max now associated the red blanket with the command he knew as his ‘ place’ where he was to sits and could relax. A lead was still used , so he knew his boundaries, and didn’t bother other customers or pedestrians.

IMPORTANT INGREDIENT : Consistent training, patience, and a calm demeanor can help the dog become a carefree urban canine.

Even the ever so smallest detail of her Red Stitch Dog Wear collar is breathtakingly captured.

Little tips for SIT - STAY 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

To teach your dog to stay in a sitting position under medium distractions, start by practicing in a quiet environment. 🐾 Have your dog sit, then take a step back. If they stay seated, reward them. 🐾 Gradually increase the distance and duration of the stay while introducing mild distractions like tossing a toy nearby. 🐾 Use positive reinforcement and patience to help your dog learn to stay in a sit position despite distractions. ✨✨PATIENCE FUELS PROGRESS 🐾♥️

This post goes around on many social platforms and it’s absolutely TRUE !

Be considerate before deciding for a particular breed of dog you want to be with ♥️🐾♥️

Everyone who is thinking of getting dogs should read this because you need to understand this reality:

***I am a 21st century dog.***
-I'm a Malinois.
Overskilled among dogs, I excel in all disciplines and I'm always ready to work: I NEED to work.
But nowadays I get asked to chill on the couch all day everyday.

-I am an Akita Inu.
My ancestors were selected for fighting bears.
Today I get asked to be tolerant and I get scolded for my reactivity when another approaches me.

-I am a Beagle.
When I chase my prey, I raise my voice so the hunters could follow.
Today they put an electric collar on me to shut up, and you make me come back to you - no running - with a snap of your fingers.

-I am a Yorkshire Terrier.
I was a terrifying rat hunter in English mines.
Today they think I can't use my legs and they always hold me in their arms.

-I'm a Labrador Retriever.
My vision of happiness is a dive into a pond to bring back the duck he shot to my master.
Today you forget I'm a walking, running, swimming dog; as a result I'm fat, made to stay indoors, and to babysit.

-I am a Jack Russell.
I can take on a fox, a mean badger, and a rat bigger than me in his den.
Today I get scolded for my character and high energy, and forced to turn into a quiet living room dog.

-I am a Siberian Husky.
Experienced the great, wide open spaces of Northern Europe, where I could drag sleds for long distances at impressive speeds.
Today I only have the walls of the house or small garden as a horizon, and the holes I dig in the ground just to release energy and frustration, trying to stay sane.

-I am a border collie
I was made to work hours a day in partnershipwith my master, and I am an unmistakable artist of working with the herd.
Today they are mad at me because, for lack of sheep, I try to check bikes, cars, children in the house and everything in motion.

I am ...
I am a 21st century dog.
I'm pretty, I'm alert, I'm obedient, I stay in a bag...but I'm also an individual who, from centuries of training, needs to express my instincts, and I am *not* suited for the sedentary life you'd want me to lead.
Spending eight hours a day alone in the house or in the garden - with no work and no one to play or run with, seeing you for a short time in the evening when you get home, and only getting a small toilet walk will make me deeply unhappy.
I'll express it by barking all day, turning your yard into a minefield, doing my needs indoors, being unmanageable the rare times I'll find myself outside, and sometimes spending my days sunk, sad, lonely, and depressed, on my pillow.
You may think that I should be happy to be able to enjoy all this comfort while you go to work, but actually I’ll be exhausted and frustrated, because this is absolutely NOT what I'm meant to do, or what I need to be doing.
If you love me, if you've always dreamed of me, if my beautiful blue eyes or my athletic look make you want me, but you can't give me a real dog's life, a life that's really worth living according to my breed, and if you can't offer me the job that my genes are asking, DO NOT buy or adopt me!
If you like the way I look but aren't willing to accept my temperament, gifts, and traits derived from long genetic selection, and you think you can change them with only your good will, then DO NOT BUY OR ADOPT ME.
I’m a dog from the 21st century, yes, but deep inside me, the one who fought, the one who hunted, the one who pulled sleds, the one who guided and protected a herd still lives within.
So think **very** carefully before you choose your dog. And think about getting two, rather than one, so I won't be so very lonely waiting for you all day. Eight or ten hours is just a workday to you, but it's an eternity for me to be alone.

This is something close to my heart 🐾
— Fence running - jumping —

It is highly self rewarding activity and can be a challenge to stop once established!

🐾 Fence fighting / running / jumping poses a danger as dogs can escalate into aggression, potentially harming people or other animals. The aggression displayed towards the fence may be redirected at nearby dogs or individuals. This behavior could extend beyond the fenced area, causing aggression during walks or in other situations.

🐾 If dogs exhibit barrier aggression, there is a risk of physical harm to other animals or people, resulting in legal repercussions. Additionally, repeated fence running can put an extremely high Sstress on dogs.
Similar to humans, dogs experience negative impacts from heightened stress levels caused by barrier aggression, leading to anxiety, fear, and other behavioral issues.

🐾 How to Prevent Dog Fence jump - fight

1. Supervision is Key. Properly supervise your dog to prevent barrier aggression. Stay outside with your dog and closely monitor its behavior, especially when it's near the fence or barrier where fights occur. If you see signs of agitation, bring your dog back inside to interrupt the behaviour.

2. Use a Leash. During the initial stages of addressing fence fighting, keep your dog on a leash when outdoors. This ensures your dog stays close to you and cannot approach the fence to start a fight. Over time, you can allow your dog to roam with a dragging leash for easy intervention if needed.

🔥TOO MUCH FREEDOM TOO SOON can lead to behavioural issues and lack of training.☄️

3. Communicate with Other Dog Owners. If your dog's fence aggression is directed towards a neighbor's dog, discuss the issue with the other owner. Collaborating on strategies and setting ground rules can help manage the situation more effectively.

National Alaskan Malamute Day 7th of January

The Alaskan Malamute: History & Characteristics

The Alaskan Malamute is not just another dog on the block. Nope, this furry friend stands as a symbol of resilience and determination, and once you get to know them, it’s easy to see why!

Initially bred by the Inuit people, these dogs were pivotal in transportation and hunting. Their sturdy build, thick fur, and mighty legs were tailor-made for the chilly Alaskan landscape.

Those traits are as strong today as they ever were, showcasing a dog that’s as remarkable on the inside as it looks on the outside. Pretty special, don’t you think? It’s really no wonder why this breed has its own holiday!

Their loyalty isn’t just an impressive trait; it’s part of their identity. Alaskan Malamutes bond deeply with their human companions, making them not just pets but family members, too. Strong yet gentle, their personalities are as captivating as their appearances.

Featured “Sir Robson” - Alaskan Malamute at heart ♥️✨♥️ who captivated me with his enthusiasm, energy and goofy personality.
