PetArk’s founder, Equine and Animal Nutritional Therapist, Medical Herbalist and product formulator Antoinette Foster began developing formulas for horses for her company Hi Form in 1987. It was the success of these formulas that encouraged her to produce a range specifically designed for dogs. At PetArk we believe you should treat the patient not the disease and treat as an individual. There is a focus on prevention before treatment; this involves achieving optimum nutrition for each dog. Dogs are carnivores but partly omnivorous it is very important to feed your dog according to the species: a simple natural diet of predominantly fresh meat, liver/kidneys, adding bones are ideal, and some vegetables and rice occasionally. Giving your dog an excellent natural daily supplement will assist with overall health and wellbeing, skin and coat, immune function and digestion and ensure they have no nutritional gaps in their diet. With periodic lockdowns which last for weeks there are many of us who are rocking lockdown-hair and trying to convince ourselves that grey is the new blonde! Is your dog looking a bit the same?!
We asked a professional dog groomer, Tarrah from the House of Fur, for a few pointers as to what we can do to keep our dogs coats under control during extended periods between appointments and avoid a nasty Covid inspired haircut!
- The only tools you require to keep a dogs coat knot free is a good slicker brush and a metal comb. Don't be tempted by cheap pet grooming kits, they are simply not up to the task!
- Don't bath with knots or matts as they get tighter when wet.
- Brush out before the bath, blow dry or air dry and brush and comb after.
- Don't attempt to cut out knots close to the skin.
- Trim corner of eyes in a V shape. To trim the fringe, comb hair over the eyes and cut looking from above, corner to corner.

If you dog is genuinely in a bad way, head to the vet for a welfare groom.
