(Trigger Warning: This post discusses mental health challenges and su***de.)
Let's Be Real and Raw Here ❤️
As a rescue, we hear about the daily struggles that go on behind the scenes.
While every rescue and charity is filled with love and hope, it also comes with immense challenges, from the toll on mental health to experiences of bullying.
From farm sanctuaries to kennels to wildlife shelters, dedicated workers pour their hearts into saving lives.
But with that commitment comes an emotional toll.
It’s a difficult truth that rescue workers are at high risk for burnout and emotional fatigue. Studies show that animal rescue workers experience high levels of compassion fatigue and face a higher risk of su***de than in many other fields due to emotional strain.
Let’s shine a light on the strength and compassion of all rescue workers and speak up, reach out, and stand by each other.
Today, we’re standing with all our fellow rescue heroes. Thank you for everything you do. 🙏
Dear community: your kindness—whether through encouraging words or simply offering a listening ear—brings comfort on the hardest days and reminds everyone in this field why they do this.
Together, we’re stronger. 💚
