Check out this handsome guy ❤️

Looking for a family to call his tribe. Please share if you cannot adopt, every share helps him.

Rescues and shelters are overwhelmed at the moment and need our assistance. However we can do it. Let’s be the change we want to see.

We need your help.

Rusty has been waiting for his forever home for 137 days and he's getting tired of waiting. Heelers are hard wired to be completely devoted to their very own family. Rusty is feeling lost and anxious with no one to call his own. He's trying his best but being just one of the pack in his foster home is not enough.

So this week we've dropped his adoption fee to just $330.

Please share him around so we can find his forever home. Let's make this week the end of his homelessness and the beginning of his happily ever after.

If you would like to give Rusty a home please pop over to our website and complete an adoption questionnaire. Like in comments.

We need your help.

3rd lesson for our sweetheart Siouxsie (Suzie) ❤️🐾

Today we took everything Suzie has already learned and started doing lead to collar obedience work. This is to be super ready for our next lesson where she is a sure thing to complete her off lead pass.

We also worked on not rounding up that pesky rake critter while Dad was raking the leaves. She was a superstar!

We train for prevention or rehabilitation of behaviours. Suzy is growing up with the best start to her little 12 week old life. She will be able to go everywhere with her mum and dad and enjoy the freedoms of life, that only a well mannered and obedient dog get to enjoy. 😊

Good Girl Suzie! Great Work Daniel and Sab! 😊👍

Our second lesson for our little sweetheart Siouxsie! ❤️🐾

We introduced heeling and recall to name for Siouxsie today. Being a Cattle Dog she definitely enjoyed the moving obedience exercises! 🥰

We added more distractions to her stay exercises so she learns to listen to mum and dad in real life distractions ie other people and dogs. We want to set a pattern that she listens no matter where she is or what is happening around her. Setting her up for success in a busy world where she gets to enjoy every second of it! 😊

Our teeniest little adorable adoptee! 🐾❤️

Meet Siouxsie, she was adopted from Pets Haven in February this year and is only 3 months old.

For such a young puppy she did a fabulous start to her training journey, here she has just been given permission with a cue word to get on the couch.

I was amazed at how quickly she learned her obedience exercises.

I’m looking forward to watching this young cracker grow in to an obedient well mannered dog. 😊❤️

Our second lesson for the beautiful River! 🐾❤️

We practiced everything that River had learned and took our distractions for holding a sit and drop to a much harder standard today. River was incredible and held under my dastardly squeaky toy!

We also introduced heeling (walk precisely by your side. We went for a lovely sunny walk and tweaked a few things. Check out the video on Thinklikeadog5 to see her beautiful polite walk. Plus the special way she looks at her mum on it. 😍

Good Girl River! Great Work Mum! 😊👍

What a beautiful photo for National I Love My Pet Day! ❤️🐾

It was our 3rd lesson for Lemmy today. It was a much more relaxed and happy puppy that I was proud to see when I walked in.

After a not great start to life, Lemmy was lucky to be adopted by Bel and Leigh! We started off lead obedience and it was a terrific start. There were some fantastic off lead recalls!

We then went for a walk where Belinda was in control of some challenging situations! I loved watching her confident handling.

Good Boy Lemmy! Great work Bel and Leigh! 👍

I Love watching his relationship with life grow, into one where the world is a safe place.

Hard to believe that this little boy was so scared, that he ran from me screaming in fear and huddled into a corner.

I am not sure what happened in your former life, but rest assured Zeus. Your life has forever changed now.

Happy 7 year Gotcha Day Ned! ❤️🐾

Last but not least meet Ned. He’s an 8 year old Australian Cattle Dog.

When I adopted Ned, he was one years old and an absolute handful. His first family were very lovely people, but Ned is a high end dog. It was tough days for me to train him initially and I am an experienced trainer.

The more training you do and the longer you do it. The more impact it has on your dogs behaviour. Rehabilitating a dog is not ever a quick fix situation. There unfortunately are No short cuts.

There have been many training milestones with Ned. The one that most sticks out in my mind, was the day I walked past and he was resting on one side of farm fencing and an Alpaca was resting on the other side. I don’t mind telling you that there was water in my eyes, I was so proud of him. ❤️

Good Boy Ned! I love you!

Meet the last adopted team member Zeus. ❤️🐾

Zeus was found on the streets and taken in by Coldstream Animal Aid. Sadly he did not seem to have had the best start to life and was unsuitable for mainstream adoption.

He was taken into care by the lovely Keryn from Canine Lifeline. He was in foster care with Keryn for several months and then came into foster care with me for another couple of months.

The first time I went to get him he ran from me screaming and hid away. We spent the first week just walking with each other so he could figure out that I was not going to hurt him. He was adopted out but it was unsuccessful and he returned to me. I promptly adopted him and his rehabilitation journey is still ongoing today. He is very trusting of me now. However true rehabilitation takes years of consistent work.

He is very happy in his little bear suit here. I couldn’t imagine life without his soulful cuddles now. He especially loves to snuggle outside with me at night stargazing.💕

Meet the beloved over the rainbow bridge girl Keely.🌈 She is the reason I became a dog trainer.

I adopted Keely when she was 3 years old. She had been badly treated by her previous owner. Sadly this resulted in her thinking that the whole human race would also want to hurt her. She felt that she had to defend herself always and get everyone before they got her. It was a awful way to live her life thinking that everything in the world was a threat to her.

After a long discussion with a vet who recommended putting her to sleep and me refusing to do this. We tried different training methods to no avail. One day we walked into The Alpha Canine Group classes. Where the training director explained to me that if I did not teach her the difference between wrong and right behaviour that she would never learn it. Such common sense when it is explained to you.

In one month of classes we progressing further with behaviour modification than we had in previous years of trying. We never looked back and I became a trainer so I could help dogs and their owners the same way Keely and I had been helped.

The more training you do the more impact it has on your dogs patterns of behaviour. In the later years of her life she starred in a short film Duke. Actors were picking her up and cuddling her. If you had told me this would happen at the start of our training journey I would have told you that you were crazy. I literally just wanted to walk her on lead down the street without her wanting to kill everything in sight.

Never give up! Keep trying! Give everything consistently to your training method. True rehabilitation takes years. But if you are truly giving it your all consider that this may not be the right method for your dog.

In this photo Keely was completely blind and sadly it was the last months of her life due to cancer. We took a last seaside holiday together. Just the two of us so I could let her know how much she meant to me. 😭❤️🐾

Good Girl Keely. Someday when the pages of my life end. I know you will be one of the most beautiful chapters. 🌈🐾

Meet the adopted team leader Squirrel.

Squirrel came from NSW where the fabulous Donna from Friendly K9 Rescue pulled her pregnant mum Connie from the pound. With Donna’s special help she had 9 beautiful puppies. Squirrel was then adopted to Victoria. Sadly this did not work out for her and Squirrel was surrendered to the wonderful organisation Save-A-Dog Scheme. Squirrel was then Meet the adopted team leader Squirrel. adopted out unsuccessfully and returned to Save a Dog Scheme several times.

I had been keeping my eyes on her various comings and sad returns and approached them with a view to foster her. She was very cheeky and naughty but after a month of training and rehabilitating her not so good behaviours (she would jump up to my head height was just one of them) we decided that we could not bear to part with her and adopted her into our family.

She trained with me at The Alpha Canine Group where she passed a series of tests to become my off lead demonstration dog. She has been my demonstration dog for private lessons at my full time job at the boarding kennels and weekend classes. Also in one on one tuitions for my own training business and has helped many dogs transition to a better life for them and their family.

I’m so glad I decided to foster then adopt her. She has broadened my life and I am always grateful for her love and trust in me.

Here in this video she is demonstrating an amazing off lead recall to her name from out of my sight. Good Girl Squirrel, I love you! 😘

Meet the first little adopted team member River 🐾❤️

Rivers mum and I worked on some basic obedience today including walking politely on a lead. Learning not to nip at mum as she was jogging.

We also started good behaviour shaping and manners off lead in the house. Learning to wait until given a cue word to enter doorways and the stairs. Also not stealing food from her human sister or annoying her 11 year old fur brother.

River and mum did very well and we had a tired young lady when I left, mum told me 😉 Mental stimulation is the one thing guaranteed to take away your dogs excess energy. Having to think all the time about new rules and good manners. Simply exercising your dog will make them fitter and make your job harder. A mixture of mental stimulation and exercise is what they need.

Good Girl River, Great work mum 🙂👍
