Today I finally had time to take my beautiful Rhino (Colbrook Orion) out for his first ride at home after bringing him home from being started under saddle.
This boy did everything right, he walked out calmly and confidently, not bothered by anything, not even Bear darting about looking for bunnies.
I had hoped to have a quiet little wander down the laneway a bit and back, but he was going along so nicely that we did the whole 3km block.
Gosh he impressed me today, there have been times over the past few years that i honestly thought this day would never come. 12 months ago this was a horse that behaved like he had never seen a human before, he would rather climb the cattle yard rails than be touched. He has come a tremendously long way, and it’s all coming together now. Funny how two full siblings innate dame environment, with the same handling can be so very different. (Meg was streeted under sadlle 12 month ago and has been going great guns and doe a 20km endurance ride)
A huge thank you to Orin at Circle J Horsemanship for your kindness and patience with this sensitive boy. I think you have both come away from this 6 week stint a bit tired but a lot learned. Rhino wasn’t your ordinary 6 week start under saddle pony.
It’s something special to get your home bred babies under saddle and so much fun to get them out and about.
It’s a pretty exciting time at Colbrook Park with these youngsters coming through. A time that seems so very far away when you serve the mares, then help them deliver their beautiful little babies 11 months later, till now when we can take those babies out under saddle and explore.

Rhino has a huge heart, and the kindest eye, he is soft and supple and still sometimes gets a bit worried and needs guidance. He is built to run, and I have no doubt he absolutely will.
Watch this space 💕

Got to ride our beautiful Rhino today and bring him home. Thank you to Circle J Horsemanship for your patience with him. There have been many days over the past few years that I honestly thought this day would never come. Getting your home bred babies to this stage is very special. I’m really enjoying these youngsters coming through.

Love this boy dearly.
We have had some health struggles of late, currently battling with a big tricky one right now, but he still looks a million bucks. 🤩

KINTAMANI SILVER MARKSMAN
01-09-2008 ~ 20-11-2024

Last week our hearts were broken, we lost our beautiful Mack.
We are utterly devastated at his untimely passing.
It has been so hard to put it into words, he was my unicorn, my best mate. My big pony. I could live forever in those big liquid eyes. He was everybody’s friend.
He was the centre piece of the farm. The first thing to greet you as you drove through the gates. He was always up for a game, chasing the kids up and down the driveway on their bikes, fooling around with his paddock mate- Pickles the Lamb, doing zoomies with Bear the dog, he even loved a game with his traffic cone, cantering around the paddock with it high above his head and karate kicking at imaginary enemies trying to take it.
He loved the kids, always happy to see them and race over to have a pat and a carrot over the fence. He happily shared his breakfast with the chickens, he was such a gentle soul for being such a big powerful horse.
He loved to race the buggy to his feed bin every day, eagerly awaiting its appearance from the shed.
There was always a performance at dinner time. HE LOVED his dinner.
He loved to be ridden around the front lawn ba****ck for a pick of green grass.
He LOVED a grooming session, his head would drop and he would go all doe eyed like he had been sedated. He never wanted us to stop, following and nudging us asking for more.
He gave the best hugs.
The farm is so quiet without him, he was such a presence, a big personality. The way he moved across his paddock to greet everyone both two legged and four, he had everyone in awe. Man what a horse, so much power yet so much softness.
We had so many plans, so many more things to do. Many more trails to explore, more babies to make, more photoshoots, more ba****ck front lawn grazing, more grooming sessions more carrots to share with the kids.
I thought we had so much more time.
He is buried in the centre of his paddock, we will get him a big shady tree.
Rest in peace beautiful boy, till we meet again….

Expressions of interest-
I have an extremely Ralvon Pilgrim saturated 2 year old C**t.

Heiress (Ralvon Mark x Ralvon Ruth)

Zaddik Caspian ( Ralvon Shamark x Pinehill Cassie (Ralvon Mark))

Bay, Correct, Fabulous substantial structure and bone, lovely hip and shoulder. Sensation Relaxed Temperament, LOVES people. I expect him to mature 15hh, maybe +.

I don’t need another stallion, so I am putting it out to the Crabbet lovers and breeders, to see if anyone would be interested in him as a colt/stallion before I geld him.
He will make the most relaxed, fun family gelding.

Colbrook Solstice (will be registered, not yet done due to myself being a bit slack in that department/super busy in others)

Photos as a foal and weanling, as I don’t currently have any good pics of him since he lost his winter mamoth coat and him taking the gangly, hairy, awkward ‘teenage’ stage very seriously. More pics and some videos of him on our page.

Colbrook Raiyne (miss sassy pants) has loved to run since the day she was born.
I love absolutely this filly! She is sensational in every way, she has the looks, the conformation, the personality, the temperament and oozes balance and ability.
She has her mummas phenomenal athleticism and can do work attitude.

Rising 2 year old, looking forward to getting her under saddle in a couple of years.
