More than 80% of the world-class performers have some form of mindful practice in the morning, thoughts cultivating present state of awareness.

It's a meta-skill that improves focus. By practising focus when it "doesn't" matter.

How does this relate to your playful pooch? Well, first thing in the morning, for 5 minutes, get your dog to focus on training!

Reward them with some playtime, toys, pats and treats.

This practice will snap them into focus first thing, and obedience can begin in the morning, rather than after a long day of lounging around the house waiting for you to get home from work.
