What is a Gallbladder Halo?

On ultrasound, the normal gallbladder wall appears as a thin, bright (hyperechoic) line, typically 1–3 mm thick.

A “halo” sign is a key visual indicator of gallbladder wall oedema. As the wall becomes oedematous, it appears hypoechoic (fluid-filled structures appear darker on ultrasound), creating a distinct dark rim around the gallbladder, this is what we refer to as the halo sign.

If you guessed an ultrasound screen, technically, you are correct, but she is also looking at some free-floating uroliths.

Don’t forget to check out the MN Urolith App, an excellent resource for diagnosing and managing urinary stones.

Last week, Anna held a masterclass with Vets for Climate Action.

In this session, Anna spoke about how veterinary practices can apply environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, tools often used by large corporations — to strengthen purpose, communication, and even business outcomes in the vet sector. This Masterclass is an opportunity to reflect on how we define our roles, our responsibilities, and the positive impact we can have beyond the clinic walls.

What is our role as veterinary team members? To care for pets and livestock? Or does our duty of care extend to the pet’s owners, wildlife, injured stray animals, and environmental conservation? Big corporations measure their contribution to environmental and social causes, and use it to create a sense of identity and drive their business.

In this Masterclass we explore how we can use big business environmental, social and governance frameworks to document and communicate our purpose, with proven business benefits.

If you are free, would love for you to join us tonight...
