TIME FOR A CONNIE UPDATE!

Just a little bit of history for our new followers :-)

It has been 5 months and 8 days since a mammoth effort by a community that didnt know a terrified and scared little puppy mill dog, came together to help get her safe..

Missy as she was known then, was trapped and secured on the 16th of May and safely delivered into the loving arms of Fay and Rene from A Mini Rescue who had the arduous task of trying to rehabilitate a very damaged puppy mill dog.. at new start and a new name, in honor of her very brief foster carer who she escaped from while being handed over, Connie ( human Connie) although undergoing treatment for cancer spent hours and hours walking, looking, searching, answering sightings.. so dedicated..

5 months and 8 days, Missy, now Connie is making great progress. An appointment previously was made to get her vaccinated, microchipped and desexed.. Unfortunately the desexing had to be postponed, as our little miss had started to come into heat.. However, Connie is now microchipped and vaccinated. There has been ups and downs with her rehabilitation, small things can set them back weeks in their progress.

Her favorite place in the world is on Fay and Rene's bed, although she dosnt like to be touched, that is entirely on her own terms, she will sometimes just get close enough to touch a finger or hand.. she is a sassy little girl, demanding her dinner with her fur siblings :-)

Fay and Rene have had to have so much patience, letting Connie take things at her own pace, she has a run that allows her to go outside when she wants, but keeps her safe.. If she gets upset, she will find something and tear it into tiny sheds :-D
but....
after 5 months and 8 days it happened!

Connie allowed herself to be petted and stroked without pulling away. she came up without being asked and just gave Fay's toes a little sniff and lick..
The very small things, we take for granted with our pups, the little show of affections, the small licks, for Connie those things are such a momentous occasion, she is the most loved doggy in the world with the best people she could have asked to be with

He is safe and well 🥰

Just look how tiny he is.

This little boy gave us all such a fright and we are so grateful he was caught so quickly.

As always bringing these little ones home is a group effort and we have so many people to thank.

Anita for reporting the first sighting and for calmly working with us.

Keryn and Juliet for your amazing round up skills - just awesome work.

The dream team of Annette and Ni Ni for completing a hat trick and guiding us every step of the way - first Alfie, then Missy and now this little man.

Our amazing villagers for all your cares and shares - that is really the key to getting lost dogs' home.

Also, the whole Banyo Community - you guys are amazing.

And finally, our amazing carers - who are always there ready to walk the streets day and night searching and sharing.

This little man will now decompress, and we will work on his anxiety before looking for his forever family.

There is one less frightened soul out there tonight - how we wish there were none at all xx

Little curly is safe.. he was caught this morning.. update on connie coming shortly.. thank you everyone ###

📣Banyo and Surrounds - Urgent Help 📣

Our Villagers and the whole community helped us bring Alfie and Missy home

Banyo now it's your turn - please share share share this post.

LAST SIGHTING
12.20 Sunday 20/08 - rear of 76 Musgrave Road Banyo

This little man has had no real human contact - he is 2
years old - barely weighs 2 kg

He is on the run in a strange place and will be terrified.

He will not come to anyone at this stage - our best chance of catching him is by tracking his movements and working out a plan when he has calmed down and feels safe.

He will no doubt be hiding out somewhere and will hopefully start moving as things quieten down in the area.

Please keep your eyes out for him and contact us urgently if you spot him.

PLEASE dont chase him, shout out or make eye contact.

If he does enter your yard and you can calmly and safely secure him please do so but please don't try and grab him.

We will update as sightings come in - with all your help we pray they will.

If you are local to the area and are able to help with posters and leaflet drops, please send us a message.

Thank You xx

We will share an update on Connie soon, however we have a more pressing issue.. this little one just came into care from a back yard breeder, he has had very little socialisation and like our girl Connie, will not come to people.. Unfortunately he dug out of his carers yard and took off.
If you live in the Banyo or surrounds, please share and keep your eyes peeled, he is barely 2kg and will be hard to spot, he will be very fast and be able to squeeze into the smallest of spaces.. you all know the drill now, don't approach, call, whistle or try and catch.. just ignore him and call the number supplied.. once again we need your help..

Connie update
from Fay
Connie update: From Fay
SATURDAY
'This morning I woke to an elephant dancing on my bed
Yes it was 6.02 and Connie wanted breakfast. She approached my outstretched hand twice, I didn’t quite touch her. She came right up to the pillow nose first pushing her self against me ( I was safely under the blanket) She then took the end of the blanket in her mouth and started to pull it off me Just like in a movie.

I got up and got her breakfast as she wanted After breakfast they dogs came back to bed Connie front legs on top of me sniffed my face all over with her little tail wagging like mad Happy Saturday'

Further progress was the introduction of 2 strangers into the house, while she didn't go near them, she didn't freak out either and hide. Connie also has an outside run now, so she go outside on the grass when she wants, she is still coming in quickly, and will take awhile to get used to it. Rene and Fay feel that she is ready to be desexed now, they have got her used to the vet they will use and she is very comfortable with her.. Connie also left a present on Fay's bed ( photo in comments )

Once again, this is the end result of puppy farms, poor little dogs like Connie.. At least Connie is getting the best care and is with the right people..
Say NO to puppy cuddles if they come to a shopping center near you..

She is quite the demanding little miss now😅

Connie update
2 weeks ago, it was thought Connie was maybe ready to have a new person introduced slowly. Unfortunately it caused a little setback and Connie reverted back to hiding behind chairs, not coming out to eat with her with her fur family and it took a little while for her to find her brave again..

Connie still won't take food from a hand, although she is coming closer, she won't allow people to touch her, but will come up and touch them.. it was time for Connie to venture out in the back yard and get used to a lead.. which she seems to be accepting quite well.. she has to be cornered to have the lead put on though. It's a slow process, one step forward and 2 back.. but she is making progress

When Connie accepts treats from a hand, then she will start some positive and gentle behavior training, patience is paramount with dogs like Connie, taking very small steps and smaller wins..

You can help dogs like Connie, by asking where the parents come from if you are in the market for a puppy, ask to see the parents, in their home, dont buy a puppy unseen from gumtree..

Its a bit alarming to see a 'puppy cuddling' business popping up on Facebook, where do these puppies come from? what happens to these puppies when they are no longer 'puppies'? No self respecting breeder, no pound, no responsible rescue would supply puppies for this.

It's time to stamp out puppy farming so dogs like Connie do not have to suffer..

Just ask the question........

CONNIE UPDATE

Connie is still settling quite nicely, she still wont take any treats from a hand, no matter how tempting, however she has taken a spot on the bed and claimed a chair as hers. Connie will sniff fingers, however still wont let anyone pat her, pulling back if a hand is raised.. Her crate was her safe space and if she felt unsafe, would retreat back into her crate for safety, however for the last 3 weeks, she hasn't been to her crate, and that is a bit step in the right direction.. she has even been a little bit naughty :-)

The next step is to get her desexed, however waiting for the right time, as there is a real fear that it could set back her progress..
Connie has only been socialised with Fay, Rene and their fur babies so far, a slow introduction to another person did not go well, so that has been put on the back burner, although she seems to have accepted seeing another person outside the window without panicking, that is a big step.

After 15 days, finally some success after slow and patient working with her.. Connie ( Missy) is jumping up on the bed, and looking for cuddles. this is such a huge step for her..
Connie is still very much a flight risk, and its going to take a lot more before she is relaxed completely to be able to be taken outside and walked, at the moment she is getting used to her new name, and her new home.. Puppy farms wouldn't exist, if people were more careful in choosing their puppies, insist on meeting the parents and seeing where they are kept, seeing how the mother dog reacts to people..
Connie ( Missy) is still wary of bright rooms, and gets very nervous, she prefers dark places, and originally would not eat or drink in a lit room, or in front of people.. so she had been kept in a dark place for most of her life..
and very please to say
Connie ( Missy) is a foster fail, she has found her forever home with Fay and Rene from A Mini Rescue :-)

30/05/2023

Missy has a new name, so everything from her past is different, Missy is now Connie.. she has had no affection or love in the past, and is very wary, but she is not moving away, and actually leans into the scratch..

Missy Update
its now been 15 days since Missy was captured and safe, during this time, Fay and Rene from A Mini Rescue have been working with her every day to gain her trust in people.. Its slow process, that cant be rushed, and she needs to trust in her own time.. as in getting a lost and scared dogs to come to their owner, its so very important that the dog comes to you.. This is such a big step, taking treats

MISSY UPDATE

Missys adventure, included covering huge distances Morayfield, Burpengary, caboolture Even seen on the M1 running up the highway towards the Buchanan Rd exit at 5am one morning..then finally secured on Tuesday night, 14 days after she escaped during a handover to a carer..
Missy is in the care of experienced carers, A Mini Rescue.. Missy had a tick bath, had the many burrs and matt's cut out if her coat, particularly her ears that were one ball of cobblers pegs and burrs, her pads attended to, dried and put in a decompression secure area, where she could just chill and relax..
Missy is getting the very best care, has the company of other little dogs and very slowly is able to relax.. Missy will need intensive rehabilitation as she will be a flight risk for a long time.. Missys full story of her rescue will be posted soon..

Missy's rescue was a mammoth effort by a fantastic team of people from A Mini Rescue, who took over Missy from her original rescue, when she escaped during a hand over to a carer. Missy's complete story will be put together and posted however, there are some big thank you's
Firstly, the team from A Mini Rescue, their dedication and their total commitment to animals in need is awesome.. driving long distances to help look, nothing to too much to ask for.. if you are looking for someone to donate too, this is the organisation..

To the many, many caring community members, of Caboolture, Morayfield and Burpengary, the messages, phone calls of sightings.. and who took advise given, and just let Missy run.. Looking for a lost dog like Missy is an arduous task.. and Missy hadn't read the rule book and was writing her own.. Without your support and due diligence, she would not have been caught.. thank you

Missy was eventually secured in Homestead drive, where she had been seeking shelter under a disused chook shed.. A phone call today, from someone who saw her and being able to get there within 10 minutes.. made all the difference.. once we knew where Missy had been hanging out, her safe spot, everything came together very quickly.. we were all just hoping her luck in traversing main roads, dicing with trains and traffic, would hold out until we managed to get her..

After setting up cameras this afternoon, putting food out, combat crawling in the pouring rain, Missy, finally after a nerve wracking 13 minutes 6 seconds, all recorded and watched on camera, was trapped..
What a fantastic community we have.. Missy from Morayfield has a nice ring :-)

To NiNi and Tiff, once again.. what an amazing team I have.

Missy is now safe and sound with A Mini Rescue, who will get all her vet work done and she will be checked in house by a mobile vet who was on standby.. Missy will need intensive rehabilitation by people who know how to care for a damaged dog like this.. i can only say, Missy looked... relieved tonight :-)

Missy update 2.40pm 16/5

We have eyes on Missy and know where she is.. we have cameras set up and food has been left and owners advised.
Can we ask that if anyone has been leaving food out now, that you bring it in, and keep your gates closed, we need her to come back to her food source.
IF YOU SEE MISSY AROUND OAKEY FLAT RD, NAIRN RD, HOMESTEAD RD, OR SURROUNDS.. PLEASE DO NOT FOLLOW HER..
PLEASE JUST IGNORE HER COMPLETELY..

She may still wander, but we are reasonably confident she will stay around the general area, now she knows food is there.. We have plans in place to secure her.. it still may take a bit of time to succeed..
thank you everyone

15/05/2023

Good Morning
We have had a report that may be Missy in Cresthaven drv at 8am, she may still move around and will be seeking shelter, she may wander in and out of yards that have gates open.. If you see her in your yard, and can close the gate, please do so, and then go back inside and ring us..

yesterday afternoon, the open yard she went into, she was quite calm wandering around, and just a soft noise, sent her into a spin..
If you are one of the many wonderful people who left out food for her last night and gates open, could you please check and see if the food has been eaten? Be aware that Missy could have taken shelter in a shed or anything open and secluded, including under cars, trailers..
Thank you again for your compassion and concern.. This little dog has captured the hearts of so many people..

To address some of the comments
Missy is the product of a puppy farm, where she was kept isolated and for breeding, or had been bred into the life of a puppy mill. Missy has had limited human contact, and that contact from all impressions, has not been positive, she does not associate humans with kindness or love. We believe Missy can be rehabilitated, and she deserves the chance to know what it is to be safe, loved and fed, and to trust humans again.
We have plans in place for food stops, and to set traps, but to do this, Missy has to stop running and remain in an area..
This was just yesterday, and every day has been similar

6:30am - Rusty Zip Kids op shop near the bowling alley
7:16am - running towards the roundabout past Harvey Norman
7:58am - running through Morayfield state school
8:19am - behind Morayfield shopping centre
9:00am - seen at bristlebird st / walkers rd heading towards minimbah state school
9:13am - food works upper Caboolture
1:20pm - 17-19 rifle bird drive
2:04pm - end of minimbah drive running along the bush line
2.30 – bush behind the scout hall
4:45pm - 42 komraus crt
7.30 - Homestead Drv

15/05/2023

Missy has been seen back on Homestead, if you are able, please leave your gate open and a little food and water on your front verandah.. she is looking for shelter from this weather
