A sad day today with Cool Water Wishing Star having a paddock accident there was no coming back from. She had a few foals for us the last being Cool Water Gal-Lexie who is going great guns in endurance. Pic below is C W Gal-Lexie( with Leanne Kathleen Hickson) who will remind us of her mother

On Saturday 2 Cool Water horse (owned by Gillian Taylor) participated in the 40 k at Lake Manchester. It was a hot and hilly track but both horses completed. Below (Left) is Cool Water Moonstone(C W Tahmal x Celsar Morning star) ridden by Kylie Attwarer, keeping the mikes up for the Tom Quilty this year. On the right is Cool Water Voyager (Ibn Al Houri x Jaydon Savannah) ridden by Gillian Taylor who owns and trains both horses. This was Voyager's first endurance ride after being started under saddle by Gill .Accompanying them in the middle is Ema Basic on Picnic Park Navita all horse vetted through. Congratulation ladies, well done.

After making us wait an extra month Cazarrah presented us with a bay c**t on the 29th November with a storm that afternoon and unsettled weather all week thinking he might be Cool Water Storm Front. Sire is Capleach Privateer

We're proud to announce that Gillian Taylor from Brisbane is once again joining the Farmalogic Ambassador Team this year. Gill is an endurance rider who has been in the sport for 7 years.
"I achieved my State Champs buckle in 2017 and then went on to get my very first Tom Quilty Buckle in 2019, aboard the now retired Cool Water Safara (Saf), my little chestnut pocket rocket. I attend rides all over South East Queensland. My dreams for 2022 are to get my Quilty Buckle aboard Cool Water Moonstone (Mason) in July this year at Tooraweenah in NSW," Gill says.
"Mason and I are looking at having a go at 320km marathon ride at Easter which will put us in good stead for our Quilty journey. My other dream is to get Cool Water Voyager aka Yoda to his very first ride after I have broken him in and getting him going well under saddle. My dream for Yoda is to float well and behave well at future rides and the exposure associated with that."

So we went on a road trip yesterday to see a filly born in the pouring rain the other night, cute as a button by our high percentage crabbet stallion Capleach Privateer. We thank her owner for allowing us to share photos of this girl

Well the filly fairy delivered at around 11.30 p.m. on Friday the 13th a bay by our endurance line stallion Idomeneo out of Cazarrah a mare by our late stallion Cool Water Tahmal. We thank Sandi Wright for allowing her to live with us. So at 3 weeks overdue from Friday afternoon things were moving along .Hubby rang his sister around 7p.m. (she has a soft spot for the mare) and she made it here by 9. Forward to 10.45 I've come in from a check and lay on the lounge then sister in law has gone down and spent some time. Phone call the waters broke and by the time we got there hooves had started to appear. All done and dusted and S-I-L got to see the first steps, she left early morning before we had to convince the maiden mare that if she let the foal drink she would feel so much better from the huge, tight udder but she's got it now.
We took a trip up to Kingaroy a short while ago to see this high percentage crabbet purebred c**t, he is sired by our stallion Capleach Privateer Thanks to his owner for allowing us to share this photo of him .

A horse ages roughly 3 times faster than a human.
So a 90 year old human is a 30 year old horse. Both very old, usually arthritic, don’t have many of their original teeth left, and very likely retired and enjoying the finer things in life.
A 25 year old horse is a 75 year old human. Still works so far.
A 20 year old horse is a 60 year old human. At that point where the body doesn’t work like it use to but the brain is all there and wants to be active.
A 13 year old horse is a 39 year old human. Middle aged, prime of their life where their knowledge and physical ability are about equal.
So let’s get down to the babies and work our way up.
A 3 year old horse is a 9 year old child. A child. Not ready for work by a long stretch. We have moved past sending children down the mines.
A 4 year old horse is a 12 year old child. Often will do odd jobs for pocket money, maybe a paper round, mowing lawns etc. Basically a 4 yo horse can start a bit of light work to earn their keep.
A 5 year old horse is a 15 year old teenager. Think they know it all, cocky, and ready to up their work and responsibilities. Still quite weak and not fully developed so shouldn’t be at their physical limit but can start building strength.
A 6 year old horse is an 18 year old human. An adult. Ready to work hard.
Pushing your youngster too hard too young will result in failure of many body parts. Joints, tendons, ligaments as well as their brains. Waiting one year at the beginning can give a horse another 10 years of useful working life. Be patient with your pride and joy!

One year ago Tony and I strapping and cooking/roustabouting for Gillian Taylor and Ema with Gillian's two horses Cool Water Safara and Cool Water Moonstone and the ladies from Farmlogic .What a great time despite the cold and being awake over 24 hours .
