So proud we set about six different settings and challenges this week. Great job Ella… mum is putting in short consistent sessions each day progress everyday time to celebrate…. Building difficulty, adding distractions this week. Just a quick change, from back seat to boot with three dogs running free right outside the boot in a secure safe area. All dogs were sniffing and running about 10 feet away. When you think everyone is sleeping! I heard a noise, got up only to find activity in another room - No break in just Maggie looking quite confused at Poppy’s midnight antics , if only she knew I only hid one piece of kibble … #greedydog #selfentertainment #dogenrichment#happydog#snuffle#funnydoggy #dognoses #scentofthenight
Introducing a dog to a muzzle!
When training a dog to wear a muzzle I like to keep it positive and a bit of fun.
Aim is to get a dog to be comfortable and want to put their nose in willingly.
Reasons dogs wear muzzles are : Safety
In an emergency.
They may have an injury and are hurting, needing treatment before going to a vet.
If a dog breaks a leg and you need to pick them up even your dog may bite you to tell you they are in pain.
Dogs that eat stones or other hazards like poo or cat litter.
Be scared of people or other dogs.
Feel threatened .
Have a bite history.
These are just a few.
It’s part of responsible dog ownership to make them comfortable to having a muzzle on. We never know when we might need it.
Some dogs feel safer in a muzzle once trained to wear one and owners sometimes can feel more relaxed. A dog senses when you are stressed or anxious. If you can breath easy knowing your dog associates a muzzle with good things and wants to put their nose in your dog will relax more with you.
You may never need it but why not be prepared. Don’t let other peoples thought options or judgement worry you. Most of the time strangers think well of dogs and owners that go out in a muzzle.
Vet visits. Grooming sessions. Good dogs wear muzzles too !

Puppy play can look quite full on …
If both puppies go back to each other and take it in turns, self handicap by taking little breaks and shaking off all is good. Keep play sessions brief, lots of breaks. Watch your pups closely as they learn. # puppyplay #itsapupslife #puppyschool#puppylife#doglovers #puppys #pupsofinstagram #dogtrainingisfun
Some young puppies are so excited and watch where they are going park, vet beach etc. Everyday build up ask for a little more from them. We want them to make good choices. It takes lots of rehearsals. Ella is improving each outing. #gooddog #dogtrainerslife #positivedogtraining #puppylife🐾 #instapuppys #groodlesofinsta #workwithdogs
Puppy Pre-School is essential for building confidence in the critical Socialisation period. 8-16 weeks.
Pups and humans will have fun and learn so much in class. # puppyschool##puppylife#puppys #puppydog
Enjoying a random few minutes walking together with distractions. Albert is a young energetic pup. Together we are learning following and staying focused. Off leash practicing helps with pulling on leash. I enjoy doing the just with No words. Random rewards. Only in short bursts with a play or running around between each repetition. The goal is the owners want to go running together with Albert staying close and not bolting away because of any distractions. # positivedogtraining #puppylife #bordoodlesofinstagram #dog #dogtrainingisfun
Random recall practice makes it so much easier for our puppy when you head outdoors. With so many distractions around we need to have the foundations solid. Every repetition helps turn behaviours into a life skill. The more we rehearse recall the better they get at it. Expecting your young pup to come if you haven’t put in the time to train
“COME “ in many different environments makes it hard to succeed.
Recall is a behaviour we need to keep our dogs safe. Set your dog up for success - practice, practice, practice! Everyday even if you only do one recall it will help.
Be happy upbeat and exciting, then your pup will want to come rushing back to you. This is one behaviour I never stop
practicing. Reward their return and keep building the skill. Add distractions, distance and if it’s too hard for your pup get closer to them. Work at the level they nail it repeatedly before increasing difficulty.
Having problems have a training session. Keep your dogs safe. Have fun together
Dogs love to mirror what we do sometimes, Rolo has mastered the action! Even with distractions around he focuses as a ball is so motivating I use this to reward instead of food
