When a horse reaches a retirement age, by arriving into LASI's care means, new permanent friends or in some cases, meeting up with old friends they once knew. They get to stay and develope long lasting loved ones they get to spend their days taking leisurly walks, having a play in the lakes water or just close breath nose to nose schnozzle snoozes... they can rely on routine and know they won't ever go without. Fed as though they continue to be a grazer despite lack of teeth in many of their cases. Each horse has their dietary needs evaluated and feed accordingly π
For this to be done properly, we really need to store the feed in a vermin proof environment out of the elements, it is necessary for us to have a office set up that we can document their progress in an efficient way, for many purposes including when vets need their history.
The office would also ideally be a volunteers break area, place for meeting, education and induction to everything we do and are involved with π€
We would love to be able to look after the incredible valued volunteers we have whom donate their time and offer their efforts and support for our beautiful horses. None of us get paid. So insuring those that give up their time and days to care round the clock for these horses, is a really big priority to us π currently and since our roof collapsed, things have been extra hard for us all. There is a human element to saving and caring for horses, without us, where would they be... π
We urge you to please support us and what we do π
We have a transport lined up for our 40ft container that has been paid for that won't get delivered until we have paid for the transport cost, they have very generously offered us a massive discount so we just need to raise $1100 to make this happen.
(As we raise the funds we will edit outstanding balance)
Please help us get back on our feet so we can continue to care fo

π π π R.I.P. PALACE CAPERS π π π
1993 - 2021
Our beautiful Capers, ah how you were so incredibly sweet π
You arrived to us with a partial prolapsed uteruse, blood infection, fractured teeth which had developed into abscesses and the onset of the scours. You had difficulty keeping food in your mouth from the get go when you arrived to our sanctuary haven. But you overcame these with the dedication of our team. You were feed and tended to round the clock and two months ago had finally made a comeback, you had finally found a couple new soul mates, Diana and Squirt. You would follow one of us around each and every day with your anticts of putting your hoof out to demand attention and feed, and so rightfully deserved to be attended to as the queen you were.
You had gone completely blind in your right eye and half blind in your left, so having formed a new bond and friendship with squirt and Diana, must have taken a massive leap of trust on your part.
Squirt would spend her days calling for you when you weren't by her side guided by her around our large property. But by the end you definitely knew your way around.
You took daily splashes in the receding lake and loved life, especially in the past two months whereby you finally started to get your full health back less most of your teeth and gain some much needed weight.
You were the sweetest, most gentle affectionate soul, just like your previous best friend Regal Chamber whom you were inseparable from prior to her passing. You were also one of a kind, just like Regal. You had the sensitivity and gentleness of a saint and the demands of a Queen!
You senced our presence and blindly followed your instincts for us to keep you safe as your guide. That early evening, no one in their right mind could have imagined you were forced to follow your guide Squirt into a full gallop out onto the Bruce HWY!! You didn't deserve this!!!! Your beautiful soul
Neighbours herding our horses out through their open gate onto the Bruce highway!!!! After it is believed the neighbours caused damage to our boundary fence line!!! Then shutting the gate behind the horses locking them out on one of Australia's busiest highways!!! π π π
Their reasoning "they want to make this miserable for us since we request they contribute 50/50% towards building a brand new boundary fence"!!! According to another neighbour!
Same neighbours that attempted to extort $450 worth of donated item for 15 minutes of their time! We had offered them 3l and they wanted 10l out of 20l of task force!
Their names are Robert and Lyn
Please Note: the neighbours could have just opened up the middle gate that leads straight back onto our property, but chose to chase and ram them into a full gallop out through their front gate and consequently 2 horses have now been significantly injured!
Update:
Police have attended
One of these days we will manage to catch the entire race our horses have on a daily bases a couple times a day π€£ instead of just catching the tail end of it π€π€£
Enjoy π
At the start of this week Dawnie was released from quarantine and joined our herd of horses πππ
Her movement sure did impressed the herd, whom were very interested in following her around for a closer inspection of her beauty π€π

Yesterday Diana did a short session with Lucky.
We were advised Lucky was going to be a bit hard to catch π€ Diana doesn't appear to have had any problems π

πΉπΉπΉ A SPECIAL TRIBUTE πΉπΉπΉ
πππ INTRODUCING ROWIE πππ
Please all welcome him and enjoy the read.
Today we took delivery of a horse by the name of "Rowie". Rowie was surrendered to us and left in John's will to be placed with us for his retirement.
Rowie is a 19 year old special boy, who was extremely bonded to his previous owner John.
We are delighted we could assist John and Rowie, to spend their final days together as best mate's until John's passing with the knowledge and peace of mind Rowie would be looked after when it was time. Now we hope to live up to Rowie's life he was accustom to:
We have received a beautiful summary of whom John was, indeed a soul that complimented earth.
Beautiful description as follows...
"John was an extremely unique character who had achieved a huge amount in his 74 years before his passing after struggling with health issues.
There wasnβt much John didnβt have ago at in his earlier years. He worked on cattle stations, retail, labouring, to food service.
His passion for surfing took him overseas where he travelled the world chasing the best waves, it was during this time he even spent a few months in a monk camp in India.
Johnβs love of horses came from working on the cattle stations and had a massive compassion for equines. He loved to show jump but he would also spent the hours doing dressage to achieve with jumping. It was a huge comfort that he was able to keep his equine friend Rowie right up to his last days.
John spent many hours Instructing and helping out his local pony club and the kids.
There wasnβt many subjects John didnβt study from Yoga, to riding, to health, to Martial arts to psychology. He was extremely wise and more then willing to extend his knowledge to anyone that was interested.
The world is going to miss this extremely thoughtful unique gentleman."
