The Big Toff has arrived at his new home this afternoon with the gorgeous Lucy Duff. Lucy met Toffee back in October and fell a bit in love with him, although he wasn’t quite ready and we wanted to do a bit more with him first.

A very special horse who just THRIVES on a job. Toffee has debated a lot of I tetst, being such a big horse with an engine like a ferrari we knew he wasn’t going to suit everyone. Big thank you to his owners for trusting us with him. Toffee has developed quite a fan club both in his racing and post racing life! We love everyone that reaches out, messages etc. ❤️

Our next team member to introduce is Mel Zwart.

Mel started riding at a young age in the Netherlands doing dressage and show jumping. In 2018 she made the move to Australia and spent several years woking with High Country Horses in Merrijig, taking out rides, looking after a large team of horses and working with the young ones.
Mel now has 2 thoroughbreds geldings of her own.
She is a patient, kind and intuitive rider with a lovely way with horses, and we love having her as part of the team!

Sired by Valhalla, show jumping sire out of a Cleveland bay X mare.

Home bred and show jumped in his early days before being purchased by current owners as a 6yo.
In the time they have had him Aussie has done years of PC, competing extensively in PC & HRCAV in dressage, eventing, show jumping, trail rides, barrel racing and mounted games.
Competing up to 1.05 SJ and has competed 80 horse trials.

EXTREMELY good doer. Has been barefoot with current owner the entire time however we have recently put fronts on him as our arena sand can be a bit abrasive. Good for farrier.
Good to float, good to take out alone. Very sensible and genuine fellow who we feel gives the rider confidence.
More on the whoa side than go, however once convinced he travels forward nicely. We have Sj and XC him around 90 - 1m and he is pretty cruisey and rideable.

Big personality, is a very funny horse who has captured our hearts in the short time he has been here. straightforward to jump, and will sort himself out from different distances.

It’s really important we consider the life of a racehorse when we take one on in a new career.

A successful racehorse is often a good horse post racing, however it may take a bit of time for them to adjust to the new guidelines.

If you are working with an off the track, always consider the life they knew previously and what may have looked like.
Look to all the things they are doing well, and focus away from the things they are still adjusting too.

These photos are of The Talking toff. He won $170,000 with trainer Donna Gaskin, whose daughter sent me these race photos 🥰
Toffee has been with us 12 weeks now, and like his owners we think he is rather special!

Toffees also has a retirement plan secured, and a paddock with his owners should he need it, which is brilliant.

Daily I am inspired by these horses, and how they can adapt and adjust to a new style of life, and a whole new job.

Big Congratulations to RESET Program graduate Rocky - who previously raced as Red Dazine with Barry Racing

Rocky placed 4th twice in the OTT Novice at the Victorian dressage festival, and we are so proud of him and his beatiful owners!

Rocky came through the RV RESET Program, which allowed him the time and training to help him find the right home.

I believe it’s important to maintain connections with thoroughbreds from their racing days to their new life, and Rocky is a fantastic example of the benefits of support in the transition with initiatives like the RV RESET Program.

One of the perks of the job is first ride on your new horse!
From the day Shanae first rode The Exchange (Cash) a lovely big Street boss gelding, she kind of thought he was a big deal, and I thought they made a cool team.

Fast forward many weeks and Shanae has been quietly bringing him along brilliantly, and today he attended his first show, jumping clear rounds and bringing home a shiny strip of material!

Top job Shanae. This boy certainly has found a super home.

This is a story of Choralist (Annie) and her new owner Suellen.

I receive message on Tuesday “Hi,interested in your mare Choralist, im from ACT.”

Big chats on phone and I forward loads of footage and info. Suellen sends back her story, details, property photos and so on. It feels like it could be a good fit.

“Great! I love the look of her, I live 7 hours away so if I leave at 4AM I’ll be at yours close up 11”
Says Suellen.
She turns up close up 11.
Loves the horse.
We love Suellen.
Transport is booked.
She has convo with Annie’s previous owners who can fill in any other gaps.

Troska has come along really well with her work. Is settling more into the contact and showing to be trainable with a good work ethic. Travels well, picks up both canter leads nicely.
Pretty head, nicely put together with good paces, we think she could excel in the show/ dressage world.
We have jumped her, and she proved willing however we do not feel this is her forte.

Good to do everything with. Likes to hack out. Been around kids, dogs, cattle, bikes, farm machinery etc.
Good reports from trainer, very quiet and very slow.
Good to load travel, straight/ angle/truck
Unusual bay/ roam color she definitely stands out and will turn heads.
Ridden in rubber bit (trust)
