This week we start our dog walk outings at Woof n Wags. Book your dog in for an extra special ‘Sniffari’ experience now the weather is cooler, and just see how happy they will be!

Did you know when a dog stops for a sniff on a walk, they’re collecting vital intel about the doggos in their ‘hood. Just from the sniff of a scent, they can tell whether a dog is male or female, if they’ve met them before and if they’re still nearby. Think of it as an adorable form of doggo social media! Going for a short, slow walk, or ‘Sniffari’ with lots of opportunities to sniff out scents is much more mentally enriching (and tiring!) than a fast walk without the chance to sniff.

This will include dog massage, which is becoming widely recognised as a positive non-medication alternative to relieve stress, anxiety, restlessness, and improve digestion and flexibility movements for our canine companions.

Focussing on different doggo areas, the Woof n Wags team will ensure that everyone gets a chance to relax after their playtime activities with their furry friends. We will also complement this with other sensory stimulation including calming music for the doggos to ‘chill and zen out’.

For April, the Woof n Wags Dog Enrichment Activity Program will start off with ‘Pamper Time’ which will include lots of (extra) cuddles as well as coat brushing, head and paw massages. In addition to making your pup’s fur soft and smooth, it is believed that canine massage via direct work on a dog's soft tissues, can improve blood flow, alleviate stress, reduce pain, relax tight and sore muscles, and help heal sprains and strains. In addition, many believe it also strengthens the dogs immune system, improves digestion, and lowers blood pressure. It also works as a fantastic way to desensitise a dog’s paws and face to allow for stress free nail clips and face cleaning. And of course, it just feels grrrrrreat!!! 😊

So, over the next couple of weeks, the Woof n Wags team will be doing easter treat hunts (with dog approved choc treats), puzzles and games to make sure everyone is having fun and using their brains! During their daycare stay, doggos enjoy lots of hugs and cuddles as well as access to the Woof n Wags Dog Enrichment Activity Program, which last month included ‘Mental and Sensory Stimulation Week’ – including agility, sniff and smell puzzles; ‘Valentine’s Week’ - filled with lots of love; ‘Water Play’ – to cool down from the heat; ‘and ‘End of Summer’ fun and summery pics.

For the month of March, we have more fun in store. Starting tomorrow, the Woof n Wags Dog Enrichment Activity Program will be focussing on ‘Healthy Play’ including doggie approved fruit and veg treats. In addition to healthy play games and activities, we’ll see which dog safe fruit or veg wins out based on a doggo led fun-based treat test – it should be interesting, fun and tasty 😊!

This week has been focussed on Mental and Sensory Stimulation activities, and tomorrow is our extra special Toy Play Day, where doggos big and small get to have some fun with a range of toys at Logan City Council 's FIRST fully licenced doggie daycare centre. Did you know toy play has numerous benefits, such as reducing stress, improving behavior, aiding cognition, and encouraging bonding. Toy play can also help keep your pet mentally and physically active. So for an extra special fun way to end the week, book your doggo in now for Toy Play Day at Woof n Wags - your doggie will thank you for it!! 😀 ❤️ 🐾

IT’S VALENTINE’S – WHAT A PERFECT EXCUSE FOR EXTRA HUGS AND CUDDLES WITH OUR FURRY LOVED ONES Love is in the air!! And at Woof n Wags Doggie Daycare, we look forward to Sharing the Love with all our furry friends of all breeds, sizes and temperaments this week. Rather than just celebrate Valentine’s Day for only one day on Wednesday 14 February, we thought we’d spread the love with Logan City Council dog owners throughout the entire week, with lots of heart-shaped themed pics, coat brushing, scent spraying, and most importantly, heaps of extra hugs and cuddles for everyone (something we’re definitely looking forward to😊). So jump on line and book your furry Valentine in for some fun and games at Logan Shire's FIRST and best (according to our doggos and their pawrents) fully licenced doggie daycare centre. On a serious note though, don’t forget it’s important NOT to share any of your human chocs and treats with your fur-babies, as chocolate is toxic to dogs. Chocolate ingestion can result in vomiting, diarrhoea or even seizures. In severe cases chocolate toxicity can be fatal. This is because there is a chemical in chocolate called theobromine, which is similar to caffeine, and is highly poisonous to dogs. Different types of chocolate contain different amounts of theobromine, however, the general rule is that the more bitter the chocolate, the higher the toxicity to your dog. Luckily, at Woof n Wags, we will only have Vet (and Vet Nurse – thanks to our onstaff emergency and critical care vet nurses Patrice and Tiff) approved dog choc, carob and yogurt treats available for our furry friends to enjoy this week, including hide and seek activities and basic obedience reinforcement.
