I can't tell you how many times I have struggled with the goats, when you lose one, or things are overwhelming and you are just tired but you keep going because you love your animals to bits. You get up in the dark for trips to shows just to see beautiful goats and learn from other much more experienced breeders.
Yesterday we were at Tenterfield show. Pretty poignant because my dad started the first dairy goat show at tenterfield close to 50 years ago.
Yesterday we had four gens of his family there and his great grandson in the ring with us. To win supreme goat of the show was pretty overwhelming for sure but I know dad would be proud of this buck so I show him with pride . jubilee Galaxy 100% nd

Have you ever had your heart drop to your feet when the vet gives you bad news..
Last Saturday my heart goat delivered two babies, one decent size buck and one tiny doe, little girl wasn't breathing and had to be revived, when she still wasn't doingng well I headed to the house to get her warmed up and stable.. went back, mum had delivered afterbirth and was eating drinking and feeding the boy..
Fast forward an hr and the Doe begins to head press which sent me to the phone to speak with our vet.. long story short visited vet and she found a tear in the uterus. Gave her meds and told me the bad news about infection and approximate time she could survive.
Home we went me crying at who I was about to lose.
Fast forward 24-48-72 hrs she was still with me and I'm fighting hard for her because she wants to stay.
We are now at day 8, and she's just started properly eating , doing everything right and I feel like I can breathe again.. I tell you I'm sooo grateful for the advice of more experienced goat owners. I feel like her recovering is pretty much a miracle considering the outcomes I googled. Bless you Lesley McDowell, Kathy Lee and Samantha Dulfer. Your kindness and experience really gave me courage when I didn't think I could do it..
While there will be no more babies for mumma I'm more than grateful just to have her..

Hi everyone.
Letting everyone know that the Tenterfield show is on the 7-8th of February next year and the AABMGS is holding our second miniature goat show on the Saturday morning.
It's such a fun morning with like minded people and it would be lovely to see some new faces and goats come along and win some prizes. There are classes for the children to lead and present their goats so it's a family friendly morning.
If you are considering popping along I'm happy to explain the process and the show organizer Rochelle Dennan can help you with your entries.
So looking forward to seeing new faces and goats so we can present a fabulous show.

Afternoon milking is an "Event" at Clarivon. Usually a mumma possum and bub turn up for a little handout or the leftovers from the girls dish or maybe it's daddy possum or both. Today I was not expecting them to invite a friend. Walking into the shed and being confronted by a smallish two foot goanna waiting for his share. Needless to say I know now why there's been no egg in the dish from chookies this week.
Last week I opened my back door and found a convivial python lying along the grapevine above me .. it's getting wild at ours .😎

It was so good to see so much interest in the mini goats at Casino on Saturday. They truly are suitable for all situations where people want a milker, a lawnmower,a couple of companions or some serious brush control.
One thing I will say is for people loving mini nubian and I fell in love first time I saw one too, is not to expect they will be the same size as Nigerian or pygmies or aus mini. Anglo nubian are one of the tallest breeds and to breed down to mini size is not easy.
It takes many generations.
It's also hard to get a proper dairy conformation on a mini animal unless you have been breeding to type and you get good dairy genetics behind your goats.
I'm not there yet.
My girls are still going a bit taller than I want. and I don't know how you can get them under unless you use another breed which some people are doing. Our goats have a way to go to be called true mini, we are on our third and fourth generation currently and it takes many goats to breed to /with to get anything suitable to mini standards
So we have decided to downsize our herd of nubians, gens 1 through 3 and full size . Over the weeks coming I'll be popping some pics on here for your interest.
We've had a blast with the nubians, friendly beautiful animals great milkers and companions.
Unfortunately our age and time poor lives aren't helpful to pushing forward with the mini nubian project, finding bucks small enough at adult height is something we all struggle with in mini nubian breeding.hoping you younger enthusiastic breeders can achieve the goal.
