I have been a little slack lately or is it too busy? 🤔
New client spotlight.
Little Poddy has started the Perfect Puppy Program and mum and dad are looking forward to less biting as a result of today’s lesson.

This 👆you cannot expect calm and control if you leave the house with over excited and crazy. Only progress when you see the behaviour you want repeated:)

Too much love ❤️ and not enough boundaries causes a nightmare in the home.

Too much love ❤️ and not enough boundaries causes a nightmare in the home.

You have more control over your dog’s behavior than you think.

“No dog can be truly off-leash reliable.”

“Never put your dog in a situation where they can make a mistake”

“Never make your dog the slightest bit uncomfortable”

“Never push your dog to do things that it can’t do”

All things told to dog owners…

and it all sounds like a crappy way to make excuses for a lack of proper training. (sorry it had to be said)

this thinking will only keep dogs from achieving their full potential.

Because doing what sounds “nice or easy” isn’t always what’s actually best for the dogs.

Dogs need rules. Structure. Boundaries. Accountability. They need to be stretched outside their comfort zones and experience stress once in a while.

Dogs need to understand right from wrong.

Most dog owners (including you) don’t need more help loving your dog! (You already do a great job at that)

Most dog owners come to us because they have already tried doing all the “right” things...and it’s only gotten them further away from where they want to be–

too much love, too much freedom, tons of affection, all rewards, no consequences, and it’s created a living hell in the home.

If you’ve been in this scenario before, we hope it feels good to know that we have ALL been there at one point.

Every successful dog trainer has walked in your path before (and we have the t-shirt to prove it!)
We were talking to a long-time friend/follower of ours who KNOWS how to train her dogs.

She has a massive pack of her own, 11 dogs to be exact, and even she slips up from time to time.
She told us how she catches herself letting the dogs structure slide, she gets lax with training, and their behavior *magically* declines.

Why?

Because when it comes to training the dogs, we need to think more logically and less emotionally. (which is hard to do, because we all LOVE OUR DOGS so much!

But, we need to check in with ourselves once in a while and ask “is my behavior helping my dog or hindering our progress?”

This question, as simple as it may sound, will likely shine a glaring light on all the things that need to change, in order for your relationship with your dog to change.

Children using dogs as playtime is also not acceptable. The dog is tolerating behaviour until one day it doesn’t. Most of the time you will get a submissive response from your dog this is not them enjoying it. Please advocate for your dog and keep your children safe. It only takes a split second and your world will change!

Let's talk about this photo. It's cute, except it's not. I see a dog who cannot get up without telling the child to get off. How do you think a dog is going to do that?

The 7 Golden Toddler Dog Rules:
#1: If a dog walks away from you, you DO NOT FOLLOW.
#2: Always leave room for the dog to walk away from you.
---that right there is 90+% of dog bites eliminated---
#3: We do not climb on the dog.
#4: We do not grab or pull on the dog.
#5: We do not hit or throw anything at the dog.
#6: We do not touch the dog's food.
#7: We do not go into the dog's kennel.

I promise these are not overly difficult concepts for littles, nor will they rob a kid of their bond with the family dog. It will deepen that bond, while keeping everyone safe.

"Oh, it looks like Moose is walking away from you. She is saying she wants a break. Let's play with this instead!"

"It's Moose's dinner time! Let's give her space to enjoy her yummies."

"That is Moose's room(kennel) and only she is allowed to go in there."

"If Moose wanted a break, could she walk away from you right now? No she really couldn't. Let's move away from the play house. You can keep playing but now she can leave when she wants a break."

In conclusion, ***parent your child or your dog will do it for you, and you will not like how they do it.***
