📣 Are you struggling with crate training?
1. Start by feeding meals inside the crate.
At first you will leave the door open, maybe just for a few days, but other dogs may be more wary and take longer to feel comfortable. It’s also a good idea to give chews/enrichment items in the same way. You can then work up to closing the door whilst they eat
2. Gradual steps! Don’t go too quickly
The key to crate training is to take each step slowly and making sure the dog is comfortable with each step before moving to the next one. Before you start leaving them in the crate whilst you leave the house, start with leaving the room first, then leaving the house for 5 minutes and build up the duration.
3. Ensuring they find their crate comfy
This will look different to every dog. Some dogs love crate covers, some dogs don’t. A comfy bed inside. Crate an inviting space that your dogs will love spending time in and you’ll find that they often choose to rest in their crates without you asking
