Shoulder freedom plays a key role in keeping the whole body biomechanically correct.
When a horse’s shoulders are tight, the surrounding muscles restrict the natural swing of the scapula. That restriction shortens stride length, reduces front-end freedom, and forces other areas - like the back and hindquarters - to compensate. Over time, that compensation can lead to soreness, tension, or imbalance through the body.
Bodywork helps maintain proper scapular movement, allowing for better stride reach, symmetry, and overall performance.
